Fireball - Pitbull

In all honesty, I don't Pitbull. I've only seen/heard him a time or two on television. Recently I saw him perform on America's Got Talent with the Rockettes. The song and the dancing had my attention. I'm a sucker for a Latin beat, so this mix with rap was quite.... refreshing? Perhaps. Anyway, enough for me to notice and so I'll look into his other stuff. Who knows.

an abbreviated version on America's Got Talent

and one of many video's he made for the song... By the way, this video could go on the sexy video thread.

I will definitely check this out. Wasn't a fan of his bluegrass offering, which is where he wants to stay in...or within the realm that is.

Swing Both Ways - Robbie Williams

Robbie hits it out of the park again. What can't this man do? A sequel of sorts to Swing When Your Winnig. As you guessed, lots of classic swing with his own swing compositions. This round he duets with some great voices. Michael Buble, Lily Allen.

Not for everybody if your not into that old genre, but I found Robbie putting a great fresh sound to some of these classics

And yes, the title hints at risqué

Southbound – Doobies Brothers

The brand new project by Doobie Brothers shifts directly into the Country Music arena. It never occurred to me the Doobies were country in any respect. They are not, but it’s more country adapting to pop and rock arrangements.

I’ve been a Doobie fan from day one and they are at the top of all my music lists.

So when I heard about this ‘country’ diversion for the Doob’s, I gave out a big ol groan with disappointment. I didn’t know if the music was going to be new or do-over like a lot of bands are doing. To me the do-over signals the band has run out of energy. Also don’t mess with the classics.

I’m here to tell you I’ve given the project a spin and absolutely love it. This album completely surprised me at every track. Maybe because I was expecting the worst? This project is reimagining some of Doobies major hits supported by some of the biggest names in country music. What the Doobies did was just ever so slightly rearrange the song with the guest artist helming the sound. Tom Johnston, John McFee, Pat Simmons, and yes, Michael McDonald start the singing, letting the country artist tackle most of the singing remainder. The sound is full and tight. What I feared most with fiddling with a classic, instead gives the song a fresh and exciting sound. Who’d thunk that possible. It’s a win-win. If you like the Doobies, if you like rock, if you like country, if you like the featured country artist… any one of these… I think you will like this collection.

If this does as well as I hope, I can definitely see a follow up with more songs and country artists and God willing a concert DVD.

Interesting. How many of the classic lineup is involved with this? Is Jeff Baxter still in the band?

Jeff Baxter left long ago with occasional special guest appearances.

Sadly several members have died. Keith Knudsen (drummer; 2005), Michael Hossack (Drummer; 2012), Cornelius Bumpus (Sax; 2004).

The core of the Doobies is Tom Johnston, John Mcfee & Pat Simmons. They've adopted several musicians to fill out the rest of the band.
John Cowan – bass guitar, vocals
Guy Allison – keyboards, backing vocals
Marc Russo – saxophones
Ed Toth – drums
Tony Pia – drums, percussion

Rose Ave. ; You + Me (Canadian musician-singer-songwriter Dallas Green, better known as City and Colour, and American singer-songwriter Alecia Moore, better known as P!nk.)

A short review... because essentially Rose Ave songs don't deviate very far from sounding alike throughout. Now that can be positive or negative. If you like that sound, like I do, this album is great to sit down and listen to. If you don't like the sound, then it's just deja vu throughout.

Rose Ave is uber laid back. Not a rocker in site, let alone something with energy. This is just smooth low music. P!nk is very distinctive in her duets, but she compliments Dallas very nicely. It's essentially voices, acoustic guitar and keyboards.

I think Rose Ave is a nice addition to the music world.

I added Capsized below, it being my favorite song.

Listening to Pandora Radio. I have a lot of work to get done today and just want to have random songs to get me through the grind. I have a few personalized Radio stations within Pandora that hit different genres. Currently playing the 'KISS Radio' channel. This isn't to say that it's just KISS songs. It has random artist that fit within the genre: AC/DC, Whitesnake, Ozzy, etc..... Once I get my fill of that, I will move onto my other personalized Radio stations that include The Beatles, No Doubt, P!nk and Michael Jackson.

About eight times in a row now.  So much for any sense of being tired or ready to sleep.

Still listening to Pandora Radio on a regular basis, more specifically the Ace Frehley Channel. But what's interesting is that it's playing a lot of Iron Maiden songs and I'm really digging what I'm hearing. Yes, it's true, I don't own a single Iron Maiden album. Never have. Sure, I've heard plenty of their songs over the years on the radio and whatnot. But with the amount of songs I have been getting for the last couple of weeks, I'm compelled to check out my local record store and grab whatever CD's or Albums they have on hand. Not gonna cost much either.

Soundtracks - Begin Again and Chef

The music is just awesome in these great little movies.

Here's a scene from the beginning where Mark Ruffalo's character envisions the song Keira Knightley is performing. I just thought is was very creative.

again, can't recommend either of these movies enough.
