What's the average megapixel these days for digital cameras? 14? 16? I take it that it's gonna be years before we see a consumer camera that has gigapixel capabilities..........

Yeah, but the real question is....How much. It won't shock me one bit if we are looking at $5,000 and more per camera. I don't see off the shelf Point and Shoot cameras having this anytime soon.
