Photography Tutorials Thread
« on: May 10, 2014, 11:39:18 am »

Like all things, one tends to do a lot of research in trying to get the best information about whatever it is that you're dabbling in for creative output. For me, right now, it's Photography. This thread will be for any kind of 'How to' tutorials and other like-minded tips and tricks.  Stumbled across Digital Camera World as I was looking for specific tips and what I found was getting right to the heart of the matter in a very easy to follow, hand-holding way that isn't bogged down with multiple pages. I'll post the links to the specific pages as I find them.

You thought right! Thanks for this!! These are the kinds of things I want to use because after spending a lot of money on my Camera and 18-200mm lens, I'm on a budget and can't spend any more cash for awhile.

How to do Hyperlapse Photography

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcylVx2ex78&list=UUuw8B6Uv0cMWtV5vbNpeH_A

I have every intention of doing this one. It's something I've wanted to try my hand at for quite some time, but watching the video, it's clear that I'm going to have to have a block of time to devote to it as it's time-consuming. But the end results look amazing and is well worth the effort you put into it.

I've watched a few different Fireworks Instruction videos and I have to say this one is probably my favorite because we get to actually see what he is doing as opposed to just hearing about it from whoever in the studio. It's one thing to talk about it, but it's another to actually go out on a photo-shoot and have the instructor walking you through the steps.

Hyper lapse

You may not believe this, but I did a form of this. I did not move the camera and I certainly get that mathematical about it.

I took a semester of a experimental video class in college. Made about 6 films.

I so need to get those videos transferred from the 1/2" tape.

Understanding Closeup Photography and Macro Mode

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K9N2O-mKqw&list=WL&index=49

We all have a basic understanding of Macro Photography with dSLR cameras with lens specific macro lenses, but not so much with Pocket Cameras because of its fixed lens. Well, I never did. Until now. I had to sit through a few other videos that never explained through actual hands-on step by step process until I found this video. This does the best job in teaching the basics.

How To Do Focus Stacking in Photoshop

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYA7wb2Vkz8&list=WL&index=47

Because I was looking into Macro Photography, I was constantly running into Focus Stacking as well. Now this was a term and process I had never heard of. It's been around for years, but I never once heard about this anywhere. Now this looks cool and can't wait to try it. As with the previous video, I had to sit through more crappy "tutorials" that spent too much time on 'theory' and less time on what to do. The above video is the best. It's quick and to the point.
