It’s a sad, sad day for me today with my local radio. I have a vested interest, because my drive time to work is at the minimum 45 minutes, so I want the ride to and back to be comfortable.
KSHE, our largest rock station, which has been syndicating the Bob and Tom show in the morning for over 10 years, suddenly and quietly, pulled the plug on the syndication. They have gone back to doing what they do with the rest of the 21 hours on air. Play the same old tired classic rock Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and Ozzy material… constantly.
When KSHE brought on Bob and Tom, it was radical and yet a breath of fresh air. I have absolutely grown to love and expect a fun morning drive in with some great comedians and funny conversations. I was at a point anyway in my life looking beyond classic rock. I’ve heard all that so much, it didn’t matter if I heard less of it. The worse thing of course is the stations programming. I might actually listen a little if their programming wasn’t so limited.
Letter to KSHE:
Dear KSHE jocks and management, here’s a suggestion… Led Zeppelin has more than 5 songs. In fact they have a whole slew of albums. And on those albums the boys made a lot of different songs. 10 at the very least. Maybe even more. You might want to try playing those songs. Other rock groups in your limited library have done similar things. There’s lots of songs out there you continue to ignore. While you’re at it, this is 2013. There have been a lot of groups that have formed, created new rock and put it out there. You might want to try them… or are you deliberately limiting yourself to the 1900’s? Also, you might want to listen to your listeners instead of some outside company telling you what the demographics are and play to that list. Saying that, you’re not so special anymore. You sound like several other rock stations. I can hear all this classic rock, anytime, anyplace. I don’t need your radio station.
Asshats
I did write all parties involved. How would any of them know if you don’t say anything. I’m not sure why KSHE stopped the show. To save money? To try recapture the days of yesteryear? St. Louis was the top city in syndication. It doesn’t make sense and I can only hope one of the other stations pick them up.
F uck KSHE. I have absolutely no need to tune into that station anymore.
And to make my morning even more bleak, I scanned the rest of the stations. Good lord, what crap. I found a couple of guys where I guess it ‘the morning zoo’ (ugh) kind of comedy. Did not like that at all. These buttwipes were contemplating, if given a choice, to have diabetes or cancer. What life would they rather live. Retarded first comes to mind.
Please, please, please let someone in St. Louis realize the black hole that exists.
Ok, my rant is over.
