Overall, the London Summer Olympics were awesome. Not because we dominated in the Medal category, but that there were some amazing performances by a lot of different athletes from all over the world. Some new stars were born (Team USA Women's Gymnastics, Missy Franklin) and some legends calling it a career (Michael Phelps, Misty May and Kerri Walsh). Just a very enjoyable 2 weeks for me, in spite of NBC dropping the ball in a lot of instances.

As for the Closing Ceremonies, it was pretty good. Not great. I never expect it to be great because in most cases, the one throwing the party usually throws everything in, including the kitchen sink. I will say that for me the highlite of the night was clearly Queen, more specifically, Freddie Mercury. I knew, as long as a year ago, that they would work in Freddie's 'sing-along' bit into the program and it was awesome as always. I give.....

I started to watch it. Got bored when the athletes walked in.

Did the Who play?

Aw crap, did this happen?

Surprised viewers also took the network to task for editing out parts of the ceremony, including performances by Muse and Ray Davies of the Kinks.

Some Olympics fans found yet another reason to be unhappy with NBC on Sunday night.

London 2012: NBC Criticized for Failing to Broadcast Events Live, Opting for Primetime Tape Delay

•London Olympics 2012
The network edited out parts of the closing ceremony, including performances by Muse's Matt Bellamy, Ray Davies of the Kinks and a second song by George Michael, and then at 11 p.m. abruptly cut away to show a preview of the new comedy Animal Practice.

Before the commercial break, announcer Bob Costas told viewers: "That concludes the closing ceremony. We'll be back to wrap things up after this."

After the break, he then revealed that the remainder of the closing ceremony -- which the network billed as a "closing party" -- would actually air an hour later, following a sneak preview of Animal Practice and local news.

"We'll be back from Olympic Stadium in about an hour for the London closing party, featuring The Who," he said.

"Stay tuned now for a full episode of Animal Practice, a new NBC comedy, presented commercial free."

The move surprised and frustrated some viewers, including Glee star Kevin McHale, who tweeted: "DEAR NBC. Interrupting the Olympic closing ceremony for an hr to air a show about a fictional animal dr. before it ends is a disgrace. Shame on you."

And the Robot Chicken account noted, "Doing a Twitter search for 'Animal Practice' right now is like tapping a keg of pure hate."

While some people on Twitter praised the show, many others weren't happy about NBC's scheduling decision.
Tweeted Ski Vegas, "#NBCFail #AnimalPractice is now the most hated show in America before the first episode. Amazing."

Added another named Lawrence Escamilla: "I may not be a The Who fan, but cutting them off to show terrible Animal Practice is just another thing to add to the #NBCfail list."
NBC has been criticized throughout the Games for its decision to show the events on tape delay, sparking the creation of the Twitter hashtag #NBCFail.

The Animal Practice preview also came about an hour after DirecTV went dark in Los Angeles for a half-hour during the closing ceremony, meaning some subscribers missed several of the show's performances.

And NBC wonders why they are failing as a Network. It's no wonder they are dead last in everything they do. Sure, they will get a huge bump in the ratings for the last 2 weeks, but in the end, they  f u c k  the viewers over yet again. I was really surprised in how it ended last night. Why premiere a show that late? Most people are in bed sleeping. So how does this help a new show? All it's going to do is infuriate people that want a legit wrap up of the Olympics. My guess is now people will boycott not just this show, but most new shows airing on NBC.

First thing I thought of is this were true, some top exec had a pet project of making this Animal Hospital happen, no matter at what costs. All the flunkies underneath fearing for their lives to say anything sensible to this guy.

Better pull their heads out of said asses.

This is exactly the kind of thinking that brought the Big 3 in the automotive arena down. We know what the customer wants. We’ll dictate it to them.

That was a colossal dumb freakin decision.

I've always been somewhat of a rebel at any job I've had over the years and I've never had a problem calling out my Bosses and Supervisors on dumbs ideas they've had or wanted to implement into the job, even if would make me the odd man out in the end. Didn't care. So, if I were employed at NBC during this years Olympics and knew first hand what 'Top Exec' was going to do with regards to the Closing Ceremonies, I absolutely would have gone straight to the top....to the 'Big Cheese', whoever the  f u c k  that may be and I would have gladly voiced my concerns and laid out what the fallout would be. If I got fired, so be it. At least I wouldn't be some knucklehead with no balls.

I've learned over the years to never just go straight to your Supervisor (the one that's just a step above your pay grade) to get anything done. First off, they never follow through because most fear for their own place in the company and second, if they do actually relay the information, they usually take the credit for the idea.

'Meet the Superhumans': Paralympians burst onto world stage

Quote
LONDON -- A battlefield explosion sends troops flying, a speeding car flips over on a highway, a "Murderball" player is knocked right out of his wheelchair, all set to a fierce Public Enemy soundtrack.

"Forget everything you thought you knew about strength. Forget everything you thought you knew about humans. It's time to do battle. Meet the Superhumans."

That’s how British TV viewers are being introduced to this year’s Paralympic athletes by Channel 4, which is broadcasting the London 2012 Games. Its campaign is giving Superbowl ads a run for their money, going viral with more than 500,000 views on YouTube alone.
