Padres hold emotional tribute to Tony Gwynn

Hopefully someone will upload the entire 90 minute memorial. I will post if and when I come across it. Until then, here's a newcast on Tony.

Batting Stance Guy: Padres

Time to bring some much needed levity to this thread and what better way to do that than with the Batting Stance Guy. His Padres-All-Time version is damn good and damn funny! I've probabally watched this at least 15 times since he originally came out. His Tony Gwynn was good, but I gotta go with his Dave Winfield as the absolute best. It STILL makes me crack up and how spot-on he is here.

19 Memories: A Tribute To Tony Gwynn

Promo

With San Diego hosting the All-Star game this year (next week, Tuesday), our Padres Sport Channel has a bunch of All-Star related programming leading into the event and they kicked it off tonight with 19 Memories: A Tribute To Tony Gwynn for obvious reasons. You can't talk about San Diego without Tony Gwynn factoring into the conversation. They had been hyping this Tribute for about a month and I knew it was going to be something special and they were right. It was everything they said it was and more. It made me laugh and it made me cry.  Other cities can claim their World Championships, but San Diego gets to say Tony was ours and that's something I wouldn't trade for anything. The Tribute was a Round-table discussion with Chris Gwynn, Trevor Hoffman, Mark Grant, Mark Sweeney, Greg Vaughn, Dave Stewart. John Boggs and Merv Rettenmund carrying the bulk of the discussion. But there was also input from the likes of Tony Gwynn Jr as well as other players that sat down to tell their T. Gwynn stories. Overall, this was a great tribute. I just wish it was longer than 1 hour. RIP Mr. Padre.
