I read that article the other day too. I found it very interesting. I think at a high level, lots of people would love to cut the cord and let Netflix fly with the eagles. But like the article say, Netflix has a lot of material from other studios that is making it successful.

I’m pretty sure we need competition in the this business to keep it alive, creative, evolutionary. Some are predicting network stations will be obsolete in 15 years or less. Well, a lot has to happen and fall in the right place at the right time for it to work. I think it’s still in it’s infancy and just the tip of change. I imagine the owners of this studio’s (Netflix, CBS, HBO, etc) are having daily meetings on the wave of consumer change in tastes. I would hope so at the very least. If any studio has got their head in the sand because of confidence, arrogance, stupidity… they will NOT survive
