I'm sad to say I was expecting it, he went to the hospital recently for lung issues, he had quit smoking ages ago but it was still messing with his body.  Just think how long he would have lasted if he hadn't touched the sticks (I mean seriously, even with that he was eighty f*ckin' three!).

He was a bit of a cantankerous old man at the end, though...

I'm itching to watch Fringe, just to see his episodes.

That bastard's in Amber somewhere...

Oh, AICN has a bunch of Nimoy videos, but this one from 1964 feels like... destiny.

And this might be my favourite Shatnner/Nimoy moment, the famous bicycle story.  I think it sums the two up pretty accurately.

I quite liked his emotional breakdown in "The Naked Time," where all that sadness and guilt from his childhood caught up with him.  He breaks down into tears because he could never tell his mother that he loved her.  Then Kirk walks in and in true Shatner fashion makes it all about him, complaining about (seriously, get a load of this) how he can't get a woman.

I'm trying not to overload this thread, everyone and their mother have been remembering Leonard and writing pieces about him (he meant so much to so many people), and there's a danger of overexposure, all these genuine words feeling like faint praise because of their sheer abundance.

Having said that, there is one eulogy that I think is worth linking to, and is quite different, and that is the eulogy delivered by Leonard Nimoy's brother in law, the Rabbi John L Rosobe, the senior Rabbi of  Temple Israel of Hollywood in California.  It's illuminating, humanizing, and impressive, and speaks not about the actor or the public side of Nimoy, but the private man.

Spock Meets Mork

This is great. There is something oddly comforting about seeing them together.
