Larry Himmel (1946 - November 6, 2014)
« on: November 06, 2014, 03:05:26 pm »

You guys won't even know who Larry Himmel is, but to me and everyone in San Diego, he is very much known and loved by all. He has been a part of my life going as far back as the 80's. He is known primarily as a News Reporter, but there was a time when he was given his own show locally called San Diego at Large in which he created Biff and Skippy that was loved by everyone here. It was water cooler stuff as people would ask their friends and family if they caught the latest adventures of Biff and Skippy. I was already a fan of his by the time he interviewed my Grandpa for one of his segments he did on the show. This elevated him into icon status in my eyes as a kid. I still remember the day my Grandpa told me he had been interviewed. He was so happy that day. Larry will definitely be missed by the community at large here. Kind of shocking to see him go do young. RIP friend.
