I know you have been scoring a lot of Vinyls there lately. I can only imagine what it's gonna be like to find KISS toys and all that.

getting records is one thing at the swap meet (and usually they are beat)....collectibles like toys and that stuff....people know too well know.

everyone goes online and checks **** out.

it's like getting third pick through stuff....all the good dealers know what has potential....I've never seen any Kiss toys....I did see a few totally trashed and mildew stinky magazines that were all cut up....which I passed on....was like 1988 mags too not 70's stuff....guitar player and stuff...they reeked and had water damage.

Star Wars stuff you can find but they are generally toy dealers....so it's pretty legit and the bargains aren't what they once were.

I think storage wars is our best bet.

that an estate sales in about 20 years when all the KISS fans start dropping dead of old age

;)

hahahahaha

So then I should be expecting you outside my door in about 50 years. Have at it!

I've only bought 4 records there.

was 2 Black Sabbath records and Alive, then I got Love Gun a few months earlier.

the guy I got Love Gun from actually is more like a used record store there...his stuff is very neat and not cheap (all he sells is Vinyl).

the other guy was asking 8-15 a piece...I just showed him the scratches on the records...and then took the risk of buying them....after he lowered the prices because I was like...'dude they may not play"

I got lucky and they didn't affect the actual play back.

he didn't see me check out the book in Alive....like I said, I saw how nice it was...and figured there's no way someone would keep the book that neat and have the records totally **** up.

luckily I was right/.

hahahaha

I am seriously thinking about once this whole "storage wars" thing blows over...in a year or two...getting into that a little bit.

I'd dump a majority of the stuff and really only look for old comics....maybe stereo stuff.

would be a LOT of work though.....but one good score could make it epic.

hahaha

that's your treasure.

I am looking for Silver Age Marvel comics.

:)

part to sell, but honestly the old stuff is just do damn cool to see.

I love the old comic covers....it's too bad the newer stuff never seems to have the same magic.

I guess 40 years from now it might...although I am not sure...if you compare the two....it seems like a lot of the comics from the last 20 years haven't stuck and made an impact that will matter much down the road....none of the stories seem iconic enough, or important enough.

who knows...I guess time will tell more.

I would keep all my new books in a LOT better shape and in bags and boards...just to make sure though

:)

The older covers will always trump the newer ones. I think for me, the whole embossed, stamped, million variant covers during the Image days, kinda ruined it for me. At first, it was cool when it was "exclusive". But then when they started doing it for EVERY comic book on the stand and on titles that sucked and had no readership was the tipping point for me.

Always go with the Golden and Silver Age Comics for sure.

even beyond all the gimmicks...the drawings themselves aren't as iconic.

something to be said for simple and straight forward...even though with that said...the old covers were still very dynamic poses and cool angles.

they just didn't add a million lines and super processed color over everything.

I sometimes wonder if someone could do a new version of the old work.....if that would actually appeal to people.

sort of like if a band came out and did led zeppelin for the 2012 crowd......is there an audience.

so tough to say...it might feel too retro....even if the structure and stylings were contemporary....so I don't mean do Jack Kirby 2012....or John Romita Sr. part 2....but a very boiled down comic style that was based more on poses and composition than detail.  I guess Bruce Timm and Shane Glines do that to some degree.

I guess John Romita Jr..also..sort of captures that...although to me his work is similar to Jason Pearson of a Cully Hamner.

I was cleaning more stuff out of the garage the other day and finally found my View-Master Camera. Yay! I just haven't had time to bust out the KISS reels and look at them though. That's my next order of business..........

oh yeah.  I just remember as a kid being blown away by that scene...I'd never seen anything like it, and those viewmaster slides made it look SO 3D to my kid brain.

I really feel like this is the beginning of round 2 (round 3 maybe if you count our kid days ) of my collecting days.  I am going to gut my collection I have now....keep the best stuff I really love, sell the rest....and invest in a bunch of new fun stuff to see 20 years down the road.

sounds fun right?
