Added Trailer

This looks promising, but I don't think they are going to be able to push the envelope in the way that American Horror Story does.

I'm getting a vibe from the trailer. And its not all that great. It just seems so meh.
Probably try to check it out and see what it can deliver.

Meh.... did very little in doing anything. Yea, a creepy woman in the shadows. Been there done that.
The opening was cool... but afterwards, it was just OK.

This just might turn into a soap. Maybe they are counting on each room and family having a story?

Dunno.

I'm thinking the Networks keep their hands tied on anything powerful. The tread the line of keeping it safe for the basic audience. Can't get risky like AMC, FX or the others.

Give it another chance

Pilot

The first thing I said to myself half way through watching the Pilot was that this will be an ongoing Soap Opera and that's not a bad thing. I actually prefer it over a 'Monster-of-the-Week' format. I liked the episode because I see a lot of potential and it looked good.....for an ABC Production. By that I mean, this is no American Horror Story, where that show nails it when it comes to setting the mood with the sets they are shooting in. My biggest fear is that even though this is suppose to be a scary show, it's going to be a watered down version of what they Studio is clearly aiming to make a grab for the AHS audience. The show can benefit from a 10pm slot and have a little more leeway with how far to push things. Also, riding the coattails of Revenge is not going to hurt its ratings either.

Gotta point out, watching Terry O'Quinn in this role is very similar to that of John Locke/Smoke Monter/Man In Black on Lost. It seems like he ask everyone these days to kill in his name.

I think the time slot is going to be part of its downfall. Talked to some folks and a late Sunday night snooze feast is not going to win those folks. They need to bring the heat.

All Pilots by nature are snooze fest. Nature of the beast and it's usually why I give a show 3-4 episodes to make some kind of mark. If after that, it's easier to pull the plug on the series.

I've seen pilots bolt out of the gate and others take their good ol time. I guess in today's world, it's definitely a different viewing experience and expectation.

Loved how LOST bolted out. FlashFoward too. I don't recall a show like The X Files.

Again, it comes down to story telling. If it's going to be the watered down version we spoke of... no thanks.

For me, Lost is the last great Pilot. But I don't view that as a typical Pilot. THAT was a 2 hour movie and was lightening in a bottle. I can't remember much of Flashfoward though because I have not seen anything of it since it's demise.

Even though I grew to love American Horror Story, I remember not caring for that show at all. It took me 2-3 episodes before it finally clicked with me and that's what I'm hoping happens here.

Yea, I'm done waisting my time. This is a late night soap opera.
Ken and Barbie (the new hotel managers) are clueless. The scare or creepiness is non-existent.

This hour show is turning into watching the clock.

Murmurations

I actually liked this episode, especially the nod to Alfred Hitchc*cks The Birds and I think that they will have more screen time in the future since Gavin (Terry O'Quinn) refused to have them exterminated from the Drake Building. The little girl who is the building thief is interesting. I guess she can see the future when she touches items that she "steals", which leads me to believe is isn't really a thief at all, but just wants to see what's gonna happen. The Hot Chick from the other building is definitely a bad seed looking to bust up a happy couple.
