Added Episode 2: Cause And Effect

I'm so late this series that I've already missed my chance at catching Episode 1 on Hulu. I didn't hear any kind of promotion about this show. It wasn't until I did research on Lindsay Wagner that I discover that she plays the same character here as she does on Warehouse 13. Watching the Promo, I'm very intrigued. I will watch Episode 2 and see what it has to offer. But first, I'm gonna hunt down Episode 1 on YouTube. Hopefully someone has it up.

Cause And Effect

Well, I couldn't find Episode 1 anywhere on YouTube so I went ahead and jumped into Episode 2 instead. What I saw, I liked. It does have that X-File-ish quality to the show from what I can tell based on this lone episode. I liked it enough that I'm gonna run through the next few episodes and see what else it has to offer. It's nothing original here for sure, but with David Strathairn leading the way, I'm hopeful they can find their voice.

As for this episode, it centers around another "bad" Alpha who's ability is that of the Butterfly Effect, where he can use any object around him and make it kill his victim in a series of events leading to their demise. The ending had a clever twist.

Anger Management

Well, after having watched Anger Management which focus' on an Alpha who can cause rage riots, much like that of Army Ants attacking an intruder, simply by releasing pheremones into a crowd, I'm definitely on board here for the rest of this season. This episode was really good. The fight that goes down at the Alpha Headquarters was brutal. The editing and film tint really added to the chaos to give it that heighten sense of blood curdling anger.

I like the cast a lot and their abilities that each brings to the group is pretty cool, if not original. I really wish I could find Episode 1 on YouTube.

Rosetta

The Alpha in question here is Anna (Liane Balaban), who's ability is that she can translate any and all languages, and ones that don't even exist. Thus the name of the episode: Rosetta. As in Rosetta Stone. Get it? This looks to be ground zero for a much larger story arc involving the Red Flag organization, a sort of Alpha movement looking to take over and control whatever within the US. What their end game is, I don't know. Have to see what future episodes have in store.

I've only seen a handful of episodes so far, but I'd have to say that my favorite character is played by Ryan Cartwright as Gary Bell. I know him prior from his time on Bones and I was disappointed they killed his character off as he messed well with the cast of Bones. This is the first I have seen him in anything since last episode on that series.

Never Let Me Go

Interesting Alpha power where she can touch her victims with "love" and then break contact from them by rejecting any more of that "love", which sends their bodies into withdrawals and eventually kills them. Also, this is the first epispde with Lindsay Wagner as Dr. Vanessa Calder, the sole reason why I even found out about this series in the first place.

Bill And Gary's Excellent Adventure

No Alpha case here, but a straight up Kidnapping and Ransom situation, involving a dirty cop. This is a standard, by-the-book episode that we have all seen time and again. But this has the one thing that others don't: Gary. The more I see Gary Bell (Ryan Cartwright) the more I like his character. He is by far the most interesting and get's all the funny one liner's. Definitely the breakout star of the series.

Catch And Release

Pretty cool to see Summer Glau pop up on this show. Always cool to see her pop anywhere for that matter. As for Catch And Release, her character of Skylar was interesting. But I felt that she wasn't utilized a bit more. The bright spot is that they definitely left it open for her character to return by giving Gary a Cell phone with direct access to her should the Alpha team need to reach her.

As before, Gary steals every scene he is in.

A Short Time In Paradise

I should have seen the ending coming right after hearing that Dr. Rosen had never fired, let alone held a gun in his hand. Sure enough, at the end he is force to shoot and kill by unloading into the guys face. I'm a little confused about this particular episode. How is it that Bill and Cameron's Alpha abilities are neutralized by what Jonas can do, yet Nina is still able to "push" people at will?
