Season 16 (Two Hour Series Finale)
Immortality: Part 1 & 2
The episode I have been waiting for years to happen finally came to fruition. It was great seeing
William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger and
Paul Guilfoyle returning to their iconic roles to share screen time with
Jorja Fox and
Eric Szmanda. This alone should have made this an easy 5 Star episode. But it's two omissions that made this very incomplete. Where the f*ck was
Elizabeth Shue? Sure, she wasn't part of the original cast, but she was a great addition for the past few seasons. But the biggest omission was the no-show by
George Eads who has been with the series from the start. This is a hollow reunion because of that. Sucks. Oh well.
As for the the Two-hour Series Finale, as great as it was to see most of the gang together again, the story episode was put together poorly. Highlighting that
Melinda Clarke was returning as
Lady Heather in the heavily promoted TV Spots all but ruined her "surprised" death scene when she hasn't even shown herself on camera yet. So, I knew it was someone else posing as her. The other big blunder was seeing that out of all the suspects being questioned, there was
Doug Hutchison in the middle of the pack. Pretty much gives away who the villain is mid-way to the ending. But that's not the biggest issue I have. You can't bring back an actor that has already appeared on the show and was killed off 10 years ago or however long ago it was. I hate it when shows do this because it breaks the "reality" of said show. Overall, with these quibbles I have, it was a decent send off for the series. At least
Grissom and
Sara got their happy ending and rode off into the sunset together.
