Wedding Boot CampWow. That was riveting viewing. I'm not an expert on Marriage counciling and my only experience with it has been on a show here and and a show there. And usually those show were never in depth at all. They would just gloss over it and make it out to jokey, or a "fun" couple of exercises that never showed any consequences between the couple. But
Wedding Boot Camp definitely was eye opening. Not just for me as a viewer, but for
Gene and
Shannon and every other couple in attendance. Imagine being put in a room with complete strangers and being told every sh*tty thing about your past and thrown right back in your face and all you can do is accept it and acknowledge that the things you did in the past were wrong and harmful. That's some sobering sh*t that will snap you back into reality.
Shannon said it best, "
Gene his entire life has dealt only with 'Yes Men" and now he has to stand in the middle of a room full of people that hate him and call him out on his sh*t". I can respect anyone that can own up to their sh*t and get through an exercise like that. That takes some serious courage right there. Another exercise that was particularly brutal was the "I would never be your spouse because....." and the one dude (not
Gene) stepped up to
Shannon and finished that statement with, ".....because your a doormat". Ouch.
