Hannibal - Bryan Fuller, Caroline Dhavernas, Martha De Laurentiis Talk Season 3 - Comic Con 2014

I found it interesting that Bryan said that they are in fact writing toward Red Dragon, but I suspect that it's a guideline more than anything and not canon. When a show kills off characters from the series who should still be alive since the show is a prequel, that means everything is up for grabs and that's why I think that Jack Crawford will be the one that's bites it from the Season 2 Finale. Or maybe not.....

Episode 1
Antipasto

Wow, has it really been 13 months since the most epic and most talked about Season Finale for any show in recent memory? 13 months ago we were left with Hannibal leaving Will, Alana and Jack in a pool of their own blood. Who will survive? Who does? Who doesn't? Do they all live? This is what has been running through my mind since then and wouldn't you know it, Bryan Fuller, the show runner, goes against the expected move of picking up right where we left off.

Instead of that, we are treated to an hour long episode of Hannibal and Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier on the run in Paris as they adjust to their new lives. Just like the viewers watching the episode, neither of them know if anyone survived or not and this is great because if and when they come a-hunting, they will be caught off guard. Really glad that Gillian Anderson is now a series regular. More please!!!    Eddie Izzard's flashback scenes were f*cking awesome!!!!!!

Hannibal Season 3 Episode 1 "Antipasto" Review With Bryan Fuller

I always watch What The Flick after I've done my reviews for whatever it is I've watched. So when I got around to this, I was surprised to see that Bryan was part of the episode during this review. I thought it was great. Love to see more episodes like this with people that were involved with their respective shows. But I can see how their reviews would be skewed so as not to offend said creator or actors. You can't talk sh*t about something if a creator is sitting right next to you. Luckily this episode rocked that they didn't have to test that theory.

Episode 2
Primavera

Another brilliant episode in spite of keeping me in the dark for at least another week. Well, somewhat in the dark. After the premiere episode, I was hoping that we would get a resolution to the season finale of last year. We finally learn the fate of what happened to Will (he lives) as well as Abigail, which totally surprised me. Having it said that Hannibal cut her in a surgical way because he wanted her to live was plausible. But like everything else in the show, it was another major twist to reveal that it was all in Will's head that she had somehow survived. I should have known better. There was no way she could have survived and yet I fell for it hook line and sinker. Beyond that, we are still left in the dark about Jack and Alana. I don't remember anything being said about either one in passing or not.

Episode 3
Secondo

Well, we finally get the answer about Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and his fate. He's alive and well and on the hunt for......Will. When he says that he wasn't looking for Hannibal, but Will instead, I just figured he was in Italy to offer him some kind of support. It wasn't until the end when we see Will displaying that Guy up as a Butterfly, the same way that Hannibal does his own victims, that it dawned on me that Will has gone to the dark side. We all knew he had it inside of him to do that, which is what makes him a great profiler.

Hannibal - Why There's Hope Despite NBC's Cancellation

Sigh.

Gee, I wonder if the show was cancelled because NBC NEVER promotes it. Dumbf*cks! At least we will get the remaining episodes aired.

Episode 4
Aperitivo

I've heard the criticism by a few people complaining that nothing much has happened in the first 3 episodes and I'm sure there will be a handful of people b*tching and mooning the same about tonight's episode as well. I won't be one of them. I thought this was a fantastic episode and we finally get the proper conclusion to what happened at the end of last season. Not only do we get some closure about what happened to both Jack and Alana.....yes, she's very much alive and hell-bent on revenge. But we also get much needed information in the 8 months that has passed from the end of last season and the start of this one. This episode goes a long way to clearing up motivations for all the characters, which was kind of hard to pinpoint in the first 3 episodes. We also get a couple of surprises with Mason Verger as well as Dr. Chilton. Yep, he's alive too. Really wasn't sure if they killed him off, but figured they would have to keep him alive because he does play an important role in Silence of the Lambs.

Episode 5
Contorno

Two very surprising moves come at the conclusion of the episode. First one was basically seeing Insp. Rinaldo Pazzi death scene done in the exact same way as seen in Ridley Scott's film Hannibal. Yes, his forthcoming demise wasn't news. I just thought they would do it differently given how creative the series has been thus far. One nice touch that they did add to the scene was having Hannibal wheel him in on a dolly, much like he himself was in Silence of the Lambs. The Second moment comes right after amd that was Jack Crawford handing Hannibal an EPIC beat down. It was brutal and it was awesome to see Jack get his pound of flesh on the man that stabbed him.

Episode 6
Dolce

The final scene blew my....mind! (Pun not intended). F*ck, as I saw it playing out, I couldn't believe I was actually witnessing Hannibal saw into Will's head since I always viewed him as untouchable. The way it was shot and edited, I was left wondering how the f*ck they are going to write him out of THAT corner to save him. This was gonna be the longest wait ever for next week's episode. I spoke too soon as the very next scene shows both Hannibal and Will hanging upside down, dangling in front of.....MASON VERGER! Awesome save. Now I can't wait until next week for something totally different than just a minute ago. Loved how they shot and edited Alana and Margot's sex scene using kaleidoscope imagery. Very clever way to make it appear you are seeing something "naughty" when in fact you are not.

Episode 7
Digestivo

What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! This was one seriously deliciously f*cked up episode. Pun intended. It also comes with a great twist at the end that I never knew existed. Not sure if it was in the book or not, but it makes perfect sense. More on that later. First I gotta talk about Joe Anderson and his brilliant, scene-chewing (pun intended) turn as Mason Verger. He has been great all season long, but this episode is where he goes above and beyond. You can tell that Joe had a lot of fun playing the character. Since this is Mason's swan song episode, it was only fitting that he got most of the lines here tonight. His death scene by an eel was.....crazy. Talk about a f*cked up family. Probably the most disturbing thing in tonights episode was the discovery that he had rigged up a pig as a surrogate to breed his unborn child, using his sisters eggs. Yeah, f*cked up doesn't even begin to describe it and this tops the whole face transplant scene to boot!

For 3 seasons, we have been given the ultimate bromance story-line involving Will and Hannibal and by the end of this episode, Will has had enough and just wants Hannibal gone once and for all and proceeds to "break up" with him. So, what does Hannibal do? Why he surrenders to Crawford and sets the stage for a life behind a glass wall. He does this so that Will will always know where Hannibal is. Talk about taking back the "break up" and sticking it to Will and not giving him the clean break he wants for his sanity. Curious if this was mentioned in the book. I've seen all the movies, but I have never read any of the books and I can't recall this ever being mentioned in any of the films,
