Rumor has it that Hulu will begin streaming Season 3 on Monday, Dec. 19, 2011. I so hope this isn't some sick joke. I can't wait to revisit this gang again.

Misfits: Vegas Baby

Robert Sheehan

Robert Sheehan

Joseph Gilgun

Technically Vegas Baby is not part of Season 3. This mini episode is a bridge to fill in the gap between the end of Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3 to explain what happens to Nathan (Robert Sheehan) as they write off his character from the series. As a huge fan of both the series and Nathan, I had high hopes they would produce something memorable. What we get is a pretty weak exit for Nathan and the introduction of the "New Guy" Rudy (Joseph Gilgun). Disappointed doesn't even begin to expalin my reaction to this. There are moments where his charm comes through, but as a whole it falls flat.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing the rest of the gang in Season 3. Hurry up and get onto Hulu already!! I think once Hulu starts hosting the new episodes, I may go back and re-watch Season 1 and Season 2 before hitting Season 3.

Joseph Gilgun

Nathalie Emmanuel & Katie Moore

The Three Amigos

Pretty decent opening with new guy Rudy. But his "power" is weak and doesn't lend itself to be all that Super. So, he can split himself into two seperate Rudy's and then what? I was really curious what new "Superpowers" the original gang would end up with. Curtis can now morph into a girl? Meh. He should have stuck with this ability to Rewind Time. Kelly's power is that of a rocket scientist? Okay, so now she is really smart. Should have went with something else for sure. Alisha is Clairvoyant. This is definitely better than what she had before. Simon now has Precognition or future sight and can see things that happen before it plays out. I guess this more or less makes up for Curtis losing the Rewind Time Power.

I find it funny that.....

Like I said, this was a decent opening, but lets be honest here, no one can replace Nathan and his absence is huge. Hopefully down the road Robert Sheehan can at least make the effort for a cameo on the series if not back full time.

Nathan Stewart-Jarrett

Kehinde Fadipe

Hannah Britland

Jay Taylor

Lauren Socha

I spoke too soon about Curtis' new Power, the ability to morph into a chick. I still don't know how this will be beneficial to him in the long run, but for this episode it was about as funny as you can get. The bulk of the episodes main focus is on his altered state as a girl, Melissa (Kehinde Fadipe). He is now posing as a girl for the sole purpose of joining the track team so that he can once again compete. But along the way, he/she falls for Emma (Hannah Britland), endures the female perspective of what it's like to be viewed as nothing more than a sex object, has to endure the unwanted advances of the Probation Officer Shaun, gets eaten out by Rudy, gets Simon to help him/her with his/her dress, which leads Kelly (Lauren Socha) into believing he is cheating on Alisha, etc...But with all the funny stuff, it suddently gets real when Curtis/Melissa is the target of a Rapist (Jay Taylor).

Iwan Rheon

Michael Marcus Morgan

Interesting episode, but a bit confusing. So Simon (Iwan Rheon) saves a stranger named Peter (Michael Marcus Morgan) from a mugging and the kid is grateful that a "Superhero" saved his ass.  Yet later on we learn that he himself has superpowers where he is able to draw events with Simon as the protagonist in his own comic book as a form of mind control. Interesting...but confusing. At first when I saw Simon acting all weird, I thought that he was still suffering from insecurity and looking friends in spite of being a bad ass now.

Fred Pearson

David Barrass

'Altered Future'

Lauren Socha

Very interesting episode revolving around an Old man, Friedrich Hirsch (Fred Pearson) who now is in possession of Curtis' former Superpower, the ability to rewind time. Friedrich, a survivor of the holocaust does what anyone in their right mind would do if you had the 'Rewind Time' ability. You go back in time and kill Hitler (David Barrass). Well, that was the plan. Things go from bad to worse when Friedrich fails in his attempt to 'off' the sum b*tch and drops his cell phone in the process which he brought with him from the future. With Hitler now in possession of the phone and it's technology, it changes the course of history where the Nazi still rule the world in present day. It's up to Kelly (Lauren Socha) to go back in time and kick the "ever-loving-sh*t" out of Hitler, which was a nice moment. Who wouldn't want to do that?

Although the episode was interesting, there wasn't a lot of humor to be found here due to the nature of the subject matter. So to me, it kind of felt a bit off. It wasn't until the final moments of the episode did it feel like the series of old. One thing I will give the writers credit for regarding time traveling is that in most cases the episode itself will not exist in the mythology of the series, which this one does in fact gets erased from. But the writers were smart to have Kelly at least retain memory of the alternate history at the end, even if the rest of the Misfits have no knowledge of if ever existing.

The 'travel-back-in-time-and-leave-valuable-technology-behind-thus-changing-the-future' angle has been done before, most recently to my knowledge in Journeyman, Episode 12: The Hanged Man. Also of note, the travel back in time and kill 'Hitler' angle was done to great effect in Journeyman, Episode 10: Blowback.
