An Orphan Walks Into A Bar

Michael Clarke Duncan, Geoff Stults & Mercedes Masöhn

After having watched the crossover episode last season on Bones, I was very hopeful about The Finder and looking forward to a full season. The Pilot(An Orphan Walks Into A Bar) just took the wind out of my Sail. That was a boring hour with only a few good moments. What happened to all that charm from the crossover? It just felt so lifeless. I dunno. I will stick with it for a few more episodes and see where it goes, but doubtful as of right now that it will get any better.

Bullets

Mitch Pileggi

Valarie Pettiford

Greg Evigan & Mario Van Peebles

Mercedes Masöhn & John Francis Daley

I'm glad I decided to give this another shot and not bail after one episode. Although this too wasn't perfect, it had more humor, better pacing and wasn't as chaotic as the Pilot episode. But a lot of reasons for liking Bullets probably could be attributed to Lance Sweets (John Francis Daley) popping up from Bones and I gotta give a shout to both Greg Evigan and Mario Van Peebles for their hilarious riff on Crocket and Tubbs. Even the  ensuing gun fight at the end was a page right out of Miami Vice from the way it was shot, edited and lighting. The music cue make it perfect. It was awesome. Haha. The series still has to work out something better to do with Maddie Hasson as Willa. Right now, she is the weakest link. Personally, I'd like to see Saffron Burrows back on the show as well, but that's never gonna happen.

A Cinderella Story

This one was actually pretty good with a nice twist that I didn't see coming. I was pretty certain that the dude was the serial killer. So when it turned out it was Lisa (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), it took me by surprise and then it hit me why I didn't immediately catch out earlier. For the first half of the episode I kept trying to place her face, but the Blond wig kept throwing me off. But as soon as I saw her strike a pose with the gun, it hit me like a ton of bricks....THAT'S Gretchen Morgan from Prison Break!

Swing And A Miss

A baseball episode automatically gives this one 4 Stars. But the fact that the writers finally gave Willa (Maddie Hasson) something to actually do on the show and contribute to the investigation, made this one....perfect. All around it was just a fun episode. A weird thing about the techincal aspect of the show needs to be addressed here.

So, at the end of Swing and a Miss, Willa turns on the jukebox and plays a song for Leo. I had the captions on and the song lyrics for 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' were on screen, but the music playing is Jazz. What really made the scene even more bizarre was the sight of Leo rocking out to....Jazz.

I get that we are dealing with FOX here and that they are cheap to spend the money to keep the episode intact the way it originally aired (which I didn't see on TV, so I am only assuming that it aired the 'Sugar' song on TV) But with this practice becoming more and more prevalent, hell, they did the same thing regarding Smuggler's Blues a couple episodes back. So, does this mean that all these replacement songs are going to be on the DVD Sets? If that's the case, you can count me out on buying those Sets and lining FOX pockets with my money.

The Great Escape

Another great episode. The entire cast is now clicking and each is bringing something to the party. This one see the return of Wilson Cruz as Jonni and it looks like it will be a running gag in that whenever Walter shows up, he will end up in jail. This one also had Ever Carradine as Agent Judy Green, who may or may not have a recurring role in the future. It was kind of set up that she could pop up from time to time, but at the end it looked like she would become a Magician's assistant.

Little Green Men

Best episode of The Finder. This was a funfilled adventure with some cool guest stars. And from the looks of it, they will be recurring characters for both Peta Wilson as Pope and Eric Roberts as Uncle Shadrack. I'm stoked to see Peta back especially. I haven't really seen much of her at all since La Femme Nikita went off the air. This episode was particularly entertaing because Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) from Bones, guest-stars as he hires Walter (Geoff Stults) to find a downed UFO. Getting there was half the fun. The resolution was pretty good....and funny with the Tin Foil Hats and how that could foil government aircrafts. I would love to see more crossover episodes from Bones and vice versa. Jason Beghe also guest-stars as the astronaut who needs answers.

The Eye Of The Storm

That was an awesome episode! It was very MacGyver-ish with Walter's ability to find a missing Girl, Melissa Welling  (Juliette Goglia) in the middle of a Hurricane and no power. I really liked the story involving Willa and her Probation Officer, Christina Farrel (Amy Aquino). I liked that she went against being a tool to actually helping out anyway possible to find the girl, even if that meant breaking a few rules along the way and not punishing Willa's methods. Not sure if Farrel will have a big role on the show since she is only there to spot check on Willa's living conditions and you really can't do that every single episode. I'm all for having her appear on the show with more regularity. She adds a nice dynamic to the group.

After a slow start in the premiere episode for this season, The Finder has really come on strong lately and produced some great episode. Loving the series big time now. I like all the actors involved.
