A.A.R.M.

I'm sooooo glad that I got it wrong and thought that this one was suppose to be the last episode. It's not that it was bad. It was quite good actually. But when the final scene ended, I was like "this can't be how they chose to end this". So, yeah, next week is indeed the Series Finale. I liked pretty much everything within A.A.R.M. The only negative was the whole singing competition that Andy tries out for. Having Clay Aiken in this one just made it feel weird, dated and out of place. But everything else was great. Can't wait to see how this close out the series and these past few episodes have been a throwback to vintage Office, which I didn't think was possible at all.

Finale

The last 15 minutes of the Finale is the best thing to happen to The Office in the last 2 years. Episode as a whole gets 4 stars out of 5. Steve Carell cameo gets 5 Stars out of 5. I thought it was kind of a stroke of genius to fast forward the show 1 year later with the gang coming back for their reunion to coincide with the wedding of Dwight and Angela. But it was the ultimate prank by Jim that stole the moment. Having Michael Scott there to become Dwight's 'Best Man' and uttering "That's What She Said" was awesome. For the past 2 years I have been hoping that Steve would change his mind and show up for the last episode. The fact that he did made the struggles of getting through these past 2 seasons without him worth it. I wish that Holly (Amy Ryan) would have made a cameo.

I like that they also addressed Erin's past and gave her closure as she found her birth parents. Having them played by Joan Cusack and Ed Begley Jr. was a nice touch. It felt right. Props for bringing back Kelly and Ryan to wrap up their story line and to give them a happy ending, even if it meant abandoning a baby. As I said, the best part about the Finale was the last 15 minutes because it summed up how I felt about the show. Really, it's how everyone feels about it and it ended on a good note. Also, Creed once again steals the show with his "disguise" as he is hauled off in cuffs. The Final shot of the building is the most fitting way to close out The Office.

FYI, I purposely avoided any news or information or spoilers about the Finale, just on the off-chance that Carell would in fact pop up here. I didn't want to be deprived of a genuine surprise like that. It paid off for me in spades.

With The Office officially closed for business now, sadly, I must now move this thread over to TV's Greatest Hits & Misses. Emphasis on the word Hits.

So I watched the last season and here's what I think:

For the new guys, adding Clark Duke to the show seems like a bit of a no-brainer.  I rather liked the episode where he and Dwight pretended to be father and son.  Considering the ending that Dwight has, it made perfect sense to give him a Dwight Jr in Clark.

I love that they started to show the cracks in the fourth wall... maybe it was seeing all the episodes at once that made me feel this way, but it felt like maybe they did it a little too much, but I liked seeing them put their mikes on and chatting a little to their documentarians.  And the ending where Pam is just broken up and talks to the sound guy, and he talks back... whoa.  I was genuinely surprised at that moment.  That was an honest to god "Holy sh*t" ending and I love those.  I do think maybe they milked that a bit too much in the next few episodes, with this whole idea that maybe Pam is in love with him or him with her, and I think that the part where he defends her in the mural episode suffered because of that, because they kept us aware of him.  Does that make sense?

I did rather like the episode where they all started getting paranoid about what might actually be ON the documentary, and it created this great problem of "how do you do an episode with people trying to hide from the cameras?"  That sort of playing with the "reality" of their world usually comes off as hokey and a bit of a last resort, but it works here because it's really the only threat left for them: the company's been at the brink and bought and sold and everything else, this was the last thing that could really resonate with them, and something that they were genuinely unprepared for.

I also loved Michael returning.  And I'm also glad I didn't know about it.  And I'm quite glad he got a happy ending.

It's crazy that you posted this now. Earlier today out of nowhere I was thinking about the series finale and the 'Greatest Prank Ever' pulled.  ;D

He did.  They mentioned he had a wife and kids and took so many pictures he needed two phones to hold them all in.  Which was very sweet.
