Spartacus - Starz

I absolutely love this show. I haven't been posting for it because there is just too much going on. I guess it is kinda of a soap opera, but a very adult version.

While theoretically it's in it's 2nd season, they made a mini season of sorts with a prequel because of Andy Whitfield's passing.

I'm posting today because watching 'Libertus' has been by far the best and most ambitious yet. The fight scenes are truly amazing. They also pulled off destroying a whole arena. The visuals are just amazing and as I've said, the soap opera story telling just kicked in with some major fu ck overs. A blast to watch.

I can't recommend this show enough.

I still need to check out Season 1, which I intend to do. Duh. Is there any TV show that I don't watch? Can't think of any at the moment.

'Spartacus' to end run on Starz after third season

Quote
The swords-and-sandals "Spartacus" epic will end its run on Starz after its third season, showrunner Steven S. DeKnight has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Spartacus" was the network's first original scripted drama developed in-house, and brought in big ratings -- THR notes that its most recent season averaged more than 6 million viewers each week, and the series airs in 150 countries around the world. "Spartacus" even did better in its second season, despite the loss of original lead actor Andy Whitfield to cancer. He was replaced by Liam McIntyre.

"It's a bit unheard of to end a show when it's doing better than ever," DeKnight admitted. "How long do you run a show? Do you run it until you can squeeze every last bit of revenue out of it, or do you end it on a high note? That was part of the decision to wrap up the show."

The third and final season, "Spartacus: War of the Damned," will start airing the first of its final 10 episodes in January 2013.

So, I just put my name in for holds on the series. I checked to see what was available and as of now, there is no Season 3 on DVD yet. I have the first two seasons on hold as well as the mini series. My question is, do I watch the prequel mini-series first? Does it 'play' better if I watch it as it was originally released (after Season 1) or should I watch it first because it's a prequel is what I'm getting at.

I don't think it matters to terribly much. They did a phenomenal job of package presentation. Each Series is good on it's own.

Watching the prequel after the first season just kind of gives you some insight to the why, when and what for in the series opener.
