The Big Snag
I love the Film Noir genre. But I'm referring to those legit films from years past, not one's that have Sci-Fi making their way into the world as seen in
The Big Snag. It doesn't help that only half the episode is black and white, while the other half takes place back in the 'real world'. It's too jarring going from one world to the next that I couldn't fully surrender to the premise of being "sucked into a crime novel". And why is it necessary for any show or movie doing their version of Film Noir to ramp up the 'speak-easy' dialect to the point of absurdity? Anyway, this one was petty average as a whole. Not that he was bad, he wasn't, but even
Enrico Colantoni couldn't save this. About the only good thing was the 'new' Title Card for the show, which drew from Film Noir. Very cool looking. The other cool thing was having
Missi Pyle in the episode. This was sort of a mini-reunion of
Galaxy Quest alums.
