Ya gotta hand it to the marketing team for some of the most creative visuals out there with the promos.

That's what I was telling me friend. She was asking about AHS and if it was scary. I told her no, but it is uber creepy and pegs the weird-sh it-O-Meter.

And then I told her about the 30 second promo's that designed to do only one, no two things.

First get your attention... and they do. Then spark an interest in to watching the show.

7.8 Million People Watched "American Horror Story: Coven"!

Quote
FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” launched Wednesday night to the anthology franchise’s biggest audience ever, reports EW.

The debut was seen by 5.5 million viewers, up 44 percent from last year’s “American Horror Story: Asylum.”

The episode also delivered a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49 — up roughly 90 percent from last fall and topping everything on broadcast last night except ABC’s “Modern Family.” If you add the show’s first encore, “AHS” had a total of 7.8 million.

“Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.”

The third season features cast of regulars and new recruits including Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Jessica Lange, Alexandra Breckenridge, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Jamie Brewer, Evan Peters, Gabourey Sidibe, Angela Bassett, Patti Lupone, and Denis O’Hare.

We completely forgot AHS: Coven was coming back on after it's winter hiatus.  :-\

So we started to watch the last of the 4 episodes. First... WTF. 4 episodes in the last half? HuH?

While I did forget Coven was returning, I forgot, but started seeing articles talking first about Stevie Nicks appearance and then grumblings about the series.

I gotta agree with the grumblings. The S hit has gotten out of hand. I'm so confused on all the characters. Who is dead, who has eternal life, blah, blah, blah. They've just thrown everything into this and in doing so, minimize any kind of trust with the viewer.

People die, but don't matter... They come back. It's a mess and honestly don't care anymore. I can't believe it took a nose dive so quick.

We have two final episodes to watch, but I'm actually dreading it. Wasting 2 hours of my time, where the end result is "Who Cares".

I had Season 2 on DVR...all episodes saved. But of course the box crapped out and all the episodes were lost when I got the replacement box. I have both Season 1 (might as well start from the beginning and watch again) and Season 2 on Hold at the Library. Just trying to clear some time to watch them both back to back.

Finished American Horror Story: Coven and IMO, tripped up big time. To the point of having a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure I’m all that psyched about future series. Not with crap they pulled in the last half of the show. 2 things… Stevie Nick presence was just odd, out of place and unnecessary. Which compounded the other issue of making the story convoluted and forcing the viewer into not believing anything presented to them.

“She’s dead? No, she’ll be back. Oh she died… Nope, she’ll be back too.”

I think the producers have a lot of repairs to make… to the show and to the viewers. I think they really slapped a lot of the fan base.  :-\

Sounds like they 'Jumped the shark'. I will still seek this out and do a marathon by re-watching Season 1 and then jumping into Season 2 and Season 3. I have the first two seasons on hold at the library, but I suspended them trying to find some free time to devote to those. But with Season 3 now in the books, I may cancel those holds all together and save them for next year or whenever they release Season on DVD.

All 3 seasons are unique unto themselves. There is no arcing of stories. You could watch them months or even years apart and you won't miss anything.
