Season 1

I really wasn't planning on starting any threads about what I thought would just be a throwaway series, used primarily as background noise as I worked from my Office. But a funny thing happened....I got addicted to the show. Season 1 was only 10 episodes long and the concept wasn't even all that original. If you have seen any of Gordon Ramsey's "Fix It" shows where he goes to lend his expertise and money to save a failing restaurant, then you have a pretty good idea of what Bar Rescue is all about.

The Host John Taffer does come off as an assh*le at times, but there is something pretty cool about his no non-sense approach to getting the problems solved and doesn't have any time for employees that try to undermine him. He will go as far as demanding the owners fire whoever needs to be fired for the betterment of the Bar. Season 1 was good. I came across the series by way of Roku on the Spike Channel. Give it a try.

Season 2

Just started watching Season 2. I know it will be more of the same, but who cares. It's fun, mindless entertainment where I don't have to think much.

Never heard of it.

I find myself getting tired of niche series after awhile. I loved Undercover Boss. But like the Vh1 band shows, the formula starts repeating itself.

Don't get me wrong, I've watched similar to this one and it was interesting. I'd watch it again if I knew when it was on.

What I like about Bar Rescue is some of the science involved in running a bar, from the arrangement of seating, flow, eye sights. It's all be pretty fascinating stuff that I never really thought about. Now, I'm going back in my mind and thinking of some of the bars, nite clubs, etc....and seeing why some succeeded and others failed.

In Season 1, they (producers) focused primarliry on Customer service, bar floor plans, flow, etc...They did broach uncleanness of bar and kitchen, but didn't really push it all that much. I am only 3 episodes deep into Season 2, and I am appalled at how disgusting these 3 bars are. They have really done a 180 and focused on some of the most disgusting things you will ever see in a kitchen. These 3 are so bad that as of now, I am not officially boycotting any and all bars, restaurants, food trucks and anything else you can think of. I will NEVER dine out again. I rather just cook my own food from here on out.

I use to work in food service many years ago and I was borderline OCD when it came to clean up. I couldn't function if I thought something wasn't clean. So I of course just assumed that everyone else would have the same work ethic and respect that I put into my job and would do the same for their kitchens. Not so at all. Sure, I knew that people would cut corners and just be downright lazy. But not to the extent of bile and goo dripping from the overhead over or dead rats on the floor that has been sitting their for 6 months. UGH!

You know that anyone that agrees to 'Rescued' with this show has to sign a release form and that nothing gets censored. Personally, I would rather just let my Bar die instead of going on air and having the world know what a filthy, sh*tty job they are doing behind the scenes. I wouldn't be able to look anyone in the eye after my episode and dirty laundry was aired for all to see.

Broke Black Sheep

I wasn't going to do reviews for this series because it's basically the same "plot" with each one. But, this one episode in particular needs to be zeroed in on and her name is Stephanie. OMG, I am soooooooo in love with this girl. She is one of the most gorgeous, beautiful, girl....woman I have ever seen. Those eyes! Those lips! That smile! Wow. Totally smitten with her. As for the episode itself, it was actually different from what has come before. With this one, the format kinda "changed"...at least for one episode. John Taffer sent 3 employees to Ireland with the 3rd spot going to the winner of the Mix-Off. Stephanie won. I would soooooo go to The Public House Bar & Grill just to get a beer from her. Hopefully get her number too. Marry me!!

I actually liked the entire staff that was present on the show. They all had their hearts in the right place and wanted to make their Bar succeed. I've never seen any episode where I liked all of them. There is usually 2-3 people per episode that I can't stand for one reason or another.

Bikini Bust

Who doesn't like looking at hot chicks in bikini's? Exactly. Everyone does. Who doesn't like looking at hot chicks that dress in trashy bikini's while serving you food? Exactly. It's not very appetizing when you have pretty girls dressing poorly. Now, I don't know how bad the place smelled, but based on the overall reaction to it, it's not going to make me or anyone want to go there to drink or eat. I like the make-over of the Sports Bar and the new name made more sense. Calling it 'Second Base' was brilliant and the new uniforms for the girls to wear was even better. I'd definitely go there if I were in the neighborhood.

That's the end of Season 2. Onto Season 3 now.......

Season 3

Just got finished knocking out Season 3. What's not to dig about this show? I love it. It's a simple formula that really doesn't change at all, although there were some noticeable differences this season, it's still the same show. One of the differences this season is that the Bar Owners are now very aware of Jon Taffer and what type of show this is. Most of the owners going into their meetings with Jon with a "I'm not gonna take any sh*t from him" attitude, which has caused some pretty hilarious meltdowns on their part. One went as far as getting physical as the Owner and Jon were pushing and shoving each other. This coming after the owner insulted one of Jon's cooks by calling him 'fat boy'. Not cool. Anyway, I enjoyed this season and look for the next batch of episodes.

May 9, 2013, Spike TV renewed Bar Rescue for a fourth season of 20 more episodes. That's what Wiki said. The 20 episodes has to be a typo because they said the same thing about Season 3 having 20, but in actuality, there has only been 10 episodes for each of the first three seasons.

I'm still watching this series each week. But for me I don't get to watch the new episodes till a week later because I'm watching The Walking Dead at the time Bar Rescue is on. So, I didn't get to see the latest episode and with everything that has happened, Spike TV will never air it again. I'm sure somebody is bound to post the episode online somewhere and I'll get to check it out. But I get and understand why they won't ever air it again. Why would you want to endorse some one's bar after the owner blatantly shoots and kills another person? I wouldn't. I am curious to see the episode for myself given all the news that's come out about how horrible the boss is toward his employees. But almost every owner that has their bar rescued on the show is a dick.
