Episode 1
A Death in the Family

With everything that has happened so far in the series, I found this episode to be the most unsettling of them all. Norman spooning his mother, not once, but twice was enough to send shivers up my neck and make me barf. Their relationship is beyond dysfunctional. *Shudders*. We also get to see Norman's ground zero moment of peeping into the bathroom to watch one of the hotel guest taking a shower. I thought Norma's reaction to catching him peeping was somewhat hilarious in her condemning what he's doing as unacceptable, un-normal behavior. And yet, she has no problems with him sleeping in her bed. Another f*cked up moment is Norman and Emma finally making themselves a couple, only to have him wander off with said guest. Poor Emma, she just can't catch a break at all. Very cool to see Tracy Spiridakos pop up as the hotel guest. Haven't seen her in anything else since Revolution was cancelled.

Episode 2
The Arcanum Club

So, with Norman driving back home in Tracy's car at the end of the previous episode.....alone, we are led to believe that he had something to do with the disappearance of Tracy Spiridakos's character. This episode is all about Norma trying to find her, which leads her to The Arcanum Club, which itself is a 'Boys Club' and all that it implies. I found it quite amusing that Norma who had admonished Norman for peeping in the previous episode would herself get caught doing the very same thing when she was peeping in on an  O r g y  through the window. What made it even funnier was the fact that it was Sheriff Alex Romero that caught her. At the same time, it was also very awkward because just a few scenes earlier they had a "moment' when he was saying goodbye to her at the Motel. The episode ends with the camera zeroing in on a body floating face down in the lake. Could this be Tracy's character? I'm not convinced that this is her because the last time we saw Tracy, she was wearing black undies and the person in the lake was wearing white. Loved the Peter Pan inside-joke when Emma ask Norman if he wanted to be Peter Pan. Priceless. If ya don't know, Freddie Highmore was in Finding Neverland.

Episode 3
Persuasion

I was right, the chick floating in the bay was not Annika (Tracy Spiridakos), but someone else entirely. I knew that the whole episode would be about Norman deflecting the accusation that he had something to do with the disappearance of her and that she would somehow turn up at the very end. What I didn't see coming was her getting out of another car and bleeding out. Who is behind this, I have no idea. The blow up between Norman and his mother was f*cking INTENSE!

Episode 4
Unbreak-Able

When you jump into Bates Motel with Season 1, Episode 1, you are kind of shocked to see that Norman has a brother. The next thing that pops into your head is that it's clear that Norman kills Dylan before the events of Psycho. Well, that's what I think anyway. So, for 2 1/2 seasons, I have been expecting that to happen at any given moment. No, he doesn't kill Dylan in this episode, but you can see the resentment Norman has for him growing deeper and deeper to that point that it's inevitable it will happen one day. Elsewhere, I really feel bad for Emma. She has no idea that Norman is using her just to get back at his mom. Emma is a great character to have on the show because with all the twisted, f*cked up things that Norman is, she offers him the chance at a normal life. We know he will never have it, but through her we hope for some sort of miracle. Should it come to where he actually kills her on the show, it will be a moment that every fan will hate him once and for all. I know I will.

Episode 5
The Deal

Sh*t just got weirder!! I didn't think that it could get any stranger, but it just did. We finally get our taste of Norman's obsession with his mother to the point that he steals a dress from her closet and starts sniffing away. Ack! This isn't surprising since we already knew he was obsessed to some degree. We even knew that he had a thing about dressing up in her clothes based on Psycho. But to see him swipe, sniff and then stuff the dress under his bed was just creepy. The ending was pretty good with Norma finding out that Dylan has been harboring his father up at the cabin. My guess is that she is heading straight up there to confront him.

Episode 6
Norma Louise

What the f*ck! Man, the just leapfrogged from him hiding his mother's dress under his mattress to straight up wearing it. It was an interesting journey that got him there. With Norma basically running away from home and having a meltdown, this leaves Norman having a psychotic break because he thinks he has been abandoned by her permanently. This leads him to having a blackout, dressing up as her and literally taking on her persona. When she finally returns home, I was kinda surprised to see her order both Dylan and Norman to go up to the cabin to confront their Uncle. Well, Norman's Uncle anyway. I was even more surprised that she accepted his apology. This is not going to end well for him because he is another person that is standing in the way between Norman and his mother.

Episode 7
The Last Supper

Norman = Powder Keg. It's gonna blow and the destruction is gonna be massive. Very interesting episode that more or less is about pouring salt in an open wound. Norman has mother issues. Duh. But his biggest concern is that she is going to leave him, which was highlighted in the previous episode and he didn't react to it well. But this episode was kind of like stacking the deck with as many different men in Norma's life that will pose a direct threat to him. Everyone that was seated at the dinner table will end up getting hacked by Norman. The Sheriff, Caleb, Dylan, Emma and Norma herself will meet a bloody end and lets not forget the Therapist dude. The fact that Norman nearly choked the guy out says he is going to meet his end soon. As for Dylan, he is playing a dangerous game. First he steals Norman's first "girlfriend" Bradley back in Season 1, now he's got eyes for Emma? Not gonna end well.

Season 5 Episode 10
The Cord
(Series Finale)

Yes, I'm posting my thoughts of the Series Finale in this thread given the fact that I never made a thread for Season 4 or Season 5. And yes, even though there was not thread for those two seasons, I still watched every single episode. As for Season 4, it was pretty f*cking dark...even by Bates Motel Standards, it creeped me the f*ck out. It was so unnerving that I actually considered quitting the show because it was making me uncomfortable knowing there are people like Norman out there. Season 5 was more of the same in the creep factor. This season would finally meet up with the events of Psycho (The Film). We would finally get Marion Crane and the infamous Shower Scene. Rihanna was surprisingly good in the role of Marion. Wasn't expecting much and she did a great job. As for the Shower Scene, I kinda knew the show would go down a different path given the bond/friendship that Norman had cultivated with Marion. So, instead of Marion getting skewered, it was a cheating husband. Definitely a douche and in the scheme of things within the show, he kinda had it coming.

As for the Series Finale, it ended exactly as I knew it would end. This is a Carlton Cuse series, and if you know him, you know that he was the brains behind Lost. It was obvious that Romero was never going to be the one to kill Norman, in spite of being supremely driven to do so. I gotta say that his own demise was purely his own fault and just stupid. Who the f*ck turns their back on a serial killer and completely forgets he is there. Not shock when he took a huge rock to the head. As for Norman's own demise, I knew it had to be Dylan and I think it was a fitting end to a great show. Very well written and acted by all involved. The afterlife (a nod to Lost) was a nice touch to reunite both Norman and Norma as they were always meant to be.
