Okay, I always channel surf and more than I care to admit it, I find myself watching an episode or two since MTV always seems to have a marathon currently running. I am convinced that 99% of the show is fake based on how the show is shot and edited. But in spite of this, I can't seem to turn the show off because they use the trick of keeping the one that always has an excuse for not wanting to meet hidden to the very end. It's human nature to want to see what exactly is being kept a secret. You know that the show begins and ends with having to make sure that the 'hidden' is the first person that has to agree to be on the show otherwise the episode would fail. So Nev's "searching" and then "finding" them is somewhat bullsh*t.

Why can't I turn this off? Ack!!

Been a few weeks since I've watched this, but I came across the latest episode (I'm guessing it's the latest one). This one in particular had to do with Bow Wow. Yes, THAT Bow Wow. Was this suppose to be a joke episode to highlight the fact that the show is fake? There is no girl on the planet that is dumb enough to think they are talking to Bow Wow, let alone believe he is falling in love with you online. The dude has access to plenty of chicks. Why on Earth would he be catfishing? Dumb dumb dumb! Was it no wonder that the "dude" passing himself off as Bow Wow turned out to be a chick. Very masculine for sure...but still a chick nonetheless. The chick, whatever her name is, talk about brazen. Yeah, it's all set up so that she can promote herself and get her 15 minutes of infamy.

Season 3 / Episode 1. Just caught the season premiere of Season 3 tonight and it was f*cked up! Same set up as every other episode, but this one seemed to go a bit deeper. You have Craig that falls in love with some chick via Facebook. They chat online and have phone conversations for over a year and a half. Of course he wanted to meet in person, and she always had an excuse (family emergency) to negate it. I can see why anyone would fall for the girl Zoe based on her pictures on Facebook. Wow. Gorgeous. Naturally this isn't going to have a happy ending. Fastfoward to the camera crew ambushing "Zoe" at her house unannounced (a first for the show). Not trying to be mean here, but she was anything but gorgeous. She was a whale. I can only imagine the rage that Craig was dealing with in that moment because her flippant, cavalier attitude about it all was p*ssing me off royally.

Watching the Live After Show right now called Chatfishing with everyone involved which includes Craig, his sister and two of their own friends who's relationship was destroyed by Zoe / Cassandra, who herself is on the After Show as well. It is the most awkward Q&A session I've seen. She is not well read. She can't put two words together and isn't making any sense at all. The term dumb comes to mind. As I said, a f*cked up situation all around. All I want to know is who is the chick on Facebook that Cassandra claimed as her.

Not on a regular basis. I think I've seen a total of 5 episodes out of 2 season. Only when I'm channel surfing and come across it do I even know it's on.

Season 3 / Episode 3: Antoinette and Albert

As I have said previously, the editing and the pacing for each episode is THE key to making it as addictive as can be. Without it, there really is no need to stick around to see what happens at the end and in this particular episode, the way it all plays out was tops. The editing and the misdirection was crucial in building up the inevitable face to face meeting between Antoinette and Albert. How did they do this? By implying that Albert's brother as possibly being the one that was actually talking to Antoinette the entire time made this a train wreck waiting to happen and that Big Brother was going to go down in flames. Naturally, you just HAD to stick it out to the end to see what happened. And to my surprise, this had a 'happy ending'. This is kind of an odd thing to occur on Catfish.

Out of 3 seasons, I have only seen maybe 8-9 episodes total and never have any of the episodes ending in a positive way. It's always someone being revealed to be deceptive and whatnot. So, this one did end great. But even with that, you could tell that Antoinette wasn't entirely comfortable with the situation. They seemed to genuinely like each other, but something about her posture said otherwise. One thing though, this whole thing could have been manufactured as a way to hype and get some name and face recognition for Albert who is a rapper and what better way to market yourself on a popular show on MTV. Fun episode regardless of whether or not this was legit.

Season 3 / Episode 5: Tracie and Sammie

This is the episode I have been waiting for since they teased it at the start of the season. Why? Tracie Thoms, that's why! I know her best from Wonderfalls, but most will probably know her as the badass chick from Death Proof. So, this episode is another new thing for the series in that we get our first celebrity that is a victim of Catfishing. Sammie, in a word is disturbed. I think the editors kind of made it look like she wasn't and that she was just "lonely". Whoever or whatever she is, I think Tracie has got balls to seek out and confront a super fan that deceived her from the start. I wouldn't have gone near her, that's for sure.

Here’s How MTV’s Catfish Actually Works

Pretty good insight into how each episode of Catfish is put together. Some of it is a no-brainer. If you just watch one episode, you ask yourself certain legal questions and can fill in the blanks without ever reading anything about it, which is what I did the first time I ever watched an episode myself.
