John Lewis' Monty The Penguin 2-minute advert.  Just arrived, very adorable.  One of those "commercials can be little movies" type of deals.

DirecTV Rob Lowe Commercial 2015 Meathead Rob Lowe

Another insanely funny Rob Lowe Commercial that I caught on TV a couple of days ago.

2015 Chevrolet Colorado

I love the subtle segue into AC/DC's Back In Black. Every time this commercial comes on, it puts a grin on my face.

Patrick just makes me laugh looking at him. This commercial wisely uses his Rules of Engagement character...

New Carls Jr commercial.  First, the video:

Now the problem:  I don't know about you guys, but I can't help but see the effects.  I know she's got to be covered, and the placement of things in front of her scream "green screen" to me, I can just tell the fruit bowl or the ice block is shot as a different layer and composited on top.  Am I the only one who sees this?

And adding to the unreality is the fact that they say au naturel but her hair is explicitly done ,she has noticeable makeup and a digitally erased bra or something holding up her boobs.  I'm seeing all the stuff that ISN'T her more than she is, I'm looking for the seams.

I'm worried it sounds like I'm saying "she shoulda really done it and we shoulda gotten to see," but I'm not, I'm just saying it's overproduced that it undoes the intended effect, and once that's the case, there's no point in doing it (and really, the idea of a hot naked girl selling a burger is pretty stupid and purile, and I say this as a dude who likes naked girls and burgers).

Once was too much.  I didn't even PAUSE the dang thing.  Put a freakin' filter over it or something to hide the seams, dang!

The thing is, I see shots like that in promos for TV shows and movies, the bare back reveal is so freakin' common as a selling point even though the odds are that's ALL you're going to see... it's just in those examples, there's context, here it's meaningless.

I still feel like sex... if not sells, it gets attention, but without any sort of context, if it's just for shock or to turn heads, it's embarassing to watch.  You know what it actually reminds me of?  That episode of Friends where Chandler is an intern at that ad company and has to come up with a slogan for those awful wheelie kick shoes.  The kid who goes before Chandler wraps up his pitch with "and the two girls in the hot tub start makin' out with each other." "Interesting, except you didn't mention the shoes!"

Thinking of naked and shoes, now I'm reminded of Miranda Kerr's recent Reebok commercial.  It's... sort of similar, she's undressing and there's a slightly voyeuristic tendency to the thing, but I don't have a problem with it.  It's cute.

Outside of feeling very natural (every shot in that Carls Jr commercial felt so artificial and planned), you also feel like you might get a glimpse of something (as if that wouldn't be caught immediately in editing), the undressing has a point, it sells a key feature of the product, and it's a supermodel yet she doesn't look like "a supermodel."
