Binge watching the first season of
Daredevil far surpassed my expectations for the series. I was a bit reluctant to get overly hyped for this in large part because of
Jessica Jones. I went into that buying the hype and coming out woefully underwhelmed. You can't and shouldn't believe everything you read and head online regarding series like this. A lot of it is fueled by fanboys that are just not going to write objectively about whatever character they are enamored with at the moment. Thankfully Daredevil does not fall into that category of over hyped, overblown prestige. The first season, to my absolute delight, was like watching one of my all time favorite comic book stories come to life. I of course am speaking of
Daredevil: The Man Without Fear. Now I don't know for a fact that they used this as the source material....as I haven't read anything about the series thus far. But it's all there and I came away more than satisfied at the end results.
The entire cast is what really shines here. The core unit that makes up
Murdock (Charlie Cox), Foggy (Elden Henson) and
Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) keep you engage from the get-go. But it's
Vincent D'Onofrio scene / series stealing turn as Wilson Fisk (The Kingpin) that you're going to remember most here. But not to be outdone are smaller roles by
Vondie Curtis-Hall, Bob Gunton and
Rosario Dawson. They leave a lasting impression where you want to see more of their characters in Season 1. I highly recommend checking out
Daredevil for sure. The Season Finale alone is worth it just to see the showdown between Daredevil and Fisk.
