Will Robinson will soon find himself in danger again, thanks to Netflix. The internet-streaming giant announced Wednesday that it has ordered 10 one-hour episodes of an updated "Lost in Space," based on the popular 1960s classic sci-fi series. The show, which will premiere in 2018, is likely to be a bit edgier than the Irwin Allen original, which aired for three seasons from 1965 to 1968 on CBS (CBS is the parent company of CNET publisher CBSinteractive). Like the original, the reboot will follow the adventures of the Robinson family, explorers stranded light-years from home."The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience," Cindy Holland, Netflix's vice president of original content, said in a statement. "The current creative team's reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world."The new series is being produced by Legendary TV, with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the screenwriting team behind the films "Dracula Untold" and "Last Witch Hunter" writing the new series.
