Grace and Frankie (Netflix)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDv6PRi1SgQBrand new on Netflix. Out of the gate, I was hearing good stuff. So my wife and I turned this on. I knew the basic premise, she did not. The opening segment starts things off, setting the rest of the show. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, married to men (Martin Sheen & Sam Waterson) for years, suddenly without warning find out their husbands want to leave them… and marry each other. This sounds like a typical comedy series you would see just about anywhere. Thankfully they take the smart approach and keep it real. Plenty of adult language and thinking.
Unfortunately, that little twist is not enough to keep our interest for 12 ep. The opening episode had a lot to do with the comedic/tragic effects. But quickly in the 2nd episode, it just becomes predictable drama. In fact, I found Martin Sheen’s effeminate character just creepy. He did something similar in Two and Half Men. Waterson is Waterson. Lily Tomlin is the only one I found the least bit interesting. She’s quirky. Fonda is a just bitter in every way, and why should I care about her.
I know it more than that simple with the idea of what do woman of this age, do now... single. How do kids handle it. How does the gay couple handle life. Blah, blah, blah.
We were completely unimpressed with the 2nd episode. Today, I can’t really say what happened. It was so Meh. I seriously doubt we continue with this.
