You're Gonna Change (Or I'm Gonna Leave)

This first misstep of the season for sure. It wasn't all that compelling with any of the stories that were being told. About the only interesting thing happening was Rayna working with a new producer to create a new sound for herself which the record company likes. That is until they find out who the producer is and suddenly it's a no-go. The behind the scenes stuff and all that political  b u l l s h i t  is fascinating to watch. I get the feeling that Rayna will stand her ground to the point of demanding she be let go from her contract.

Lovesick Blues

The entire episode is building up to the duet between Rayna and Juliettewho are being forced to sing together for a number of reasons. The least being for the love of music. Watching the political manipulation continue was fun to see and sad to say, very much a part of the music business. So, it finally comes down to the two of them deciding to write a song together since their ego's were too big to agree on a previously recorded song. I wasn't sure what kind of song they would end up with, but I gotta say that I think the song ROCKED! It was more rock than country, even though there was that country flavor in their vocals. I'd buy that song right now. It's that good. The name of the song is 'Wrong Song'.

Where He Leads Me

So far all the story-lines they have running concurrently have kept me engaged. Even Avery's arc has gotten infinitely better now that he is being woo'ed by a Major Producer who in turn pulling the "dump your band or there is no contract" offer. Given how he even got as far as he did by sleeping with that Music promoter, it's a no-brainer that he will sell out his band and friends at the drop of a hat. The one story-line that is getting somewhat old is the one involving Gunner pining after Scarlett. It's a bit much and shows him to be a doormat and her to be indecisive about everything. I really liked the version of For Your Glory that Juliette sings with the choir.

Be Careful of Stones That You Throw

I didn't think I'd miss Nashville as much as I did when it went on hiatus. Nice to get back into the world of what they are trying to pass off as "country". It's more rock than anything else and I am 100% fine with that. More please. I think the best part about this episode was Avery firing his band because it's the only way he could land a recording contract. Why is this the best part? Isn't that harsh? Yes it is, and that's why it's going to be all the more sweeter when Scarlett and his old band end up making it big time and he is tossed out like yesterdays newspaper when things don't go the way he planned. Karma is a b*tch!

I'm Sorry for You, My Friend

It was kind of cool to see that the Rayna / Juliette Tour was kicking off in San Diego and they had come cool airel shots of the city, but I never heard about the show shooting here. It would have been all over the news if they did in fact come to the city. Also, what they were passing off as the Arena didn't look anything like the San Diego Sports Arena. Maybe it was, but they would have had to do some serious remodeling of the interior because it didn't look anything at all like what I remember it to be.

Anyway, the best story line for this one and one that got barely any traction was Avery's arc. Now that he is being wooed, the hook is who is trying to screw him over with regards to his contract. They are setting up his Manager as the gold digger looking out for herself and the Music Producer as the one trying to get Avery to sign a questionable contract. For the benefit of the show, they have to have it where he does in fact sign a bad contract so that we can see him fail after screwing over his former band and friends.

You Win Again

It took awhile, but they finally got around to giving the fans of the show a perfect episode that sums up what makes this show so great. It's really starting to come together on a lot of fronts. This has become a great Soap Opera now with concurrent story lines crossing over to others. The best part of this episode comes at the end when Deacon joins Juliette band to the horror of Rayna. Double down! Bam! Also, I got some sick thrill at seeing the egg on Avery's face when he discovers that his old band has now joined forces with Scarlett and Gunner. Double down again! Hahaha. Sucks to be you Mr. I-got-a-free-car-instead-of-a-signing-bonus!!

I've Been Down That Road Before

This is turning out to be the soapiest of all Soap Opera's and I love it. A lot of sh*t went down in this episode. Avery gets his ass kicked by Gunner and rightly so. Juliette on the advice from Deacon decides to try something different with her set, much to the dismay of her Tour Manager. Teddy cheats on Rayna with Peggy and Deacon locks lips with Rayna after spending the entire episode p*ssed off at her. Totally was not expecting that. The kicker is that at the end of the episode, Teddy ask Rayna for a divorce. All in all, a fantastic episode. If there is one person that is sure not to like this episode it's Britney Spears. I think the whole "Juliette trapped in her image" is a direct dig at Spears herself.

Think about it, how long as Spears been in the business? And in all that time has she ever done anything equal to musical ambition? Nope. She just keeps doing the same sh*t over and over, relying on dancers to take focus off the fact that she just can't sing and it nothing more than a spectacle, which is what Juliette is on the show.

There'll Be No Teardrops Tonight

Loved the temper tantrum meltdown by resident Diva Juliette when she admonishes her band and dancers to lay down the law of who is boss. Why did I like the scene? Probably because it shines a light on every single 'one hit wonder' currently in the music business that thinks they are better than they really are. She's gonna have to wise up because she is going to find herself all alone when the fame fades....TV show or not.

The return of Gunner's brother into the fold looks like it could add a nice bump of tension, especially since he is still carrying around that gun he said he got rid of. Not sure what to make of Rayna deciding to lean on the shoulder of the guitar player/producer instead of running to Deacon.
