She's Got You

Hahahahaha. Awesome twist at the end. Been waiting for the shoe to drop with Olivia confronting Juliette about sleeping with her husband. I never thought to even think that Olivia would use this to put the moves on her. I'm sure that the start of next week's episode will have Juliette rebuffing her advances, but still a goo twist. As for the rest of the episode, I found Deacon's story to be the best with him trying to rehearse a song so that he could play live for the first time since his accident. It was made all the more poignant when he ended up singing for Maddie, which the entire episode....actually the entire season thus far has been leading up to.

Having Gunner pop up on Scarlett's tour bus at the end was interesting. Now obviously this is going to spark something and now Gun will have two girls chasing him. This is a train wreck waiting to happen. I'm just curious to see how Boss-man from Edgehill Records is going to f*ck Gun over from honoring his deal with him and steal his prized song.

Hanky Panky Woman

This episode sucked big time. They can't all be winners. Everything about this one just felt off. Really not sure what it is that I didn't like about this one in particular. It may have to do with Scarlett as this "rising star". One thing I know for sure that I didn't like was the music. Everything was too "countrified". Not one song came across as being Rock and Roll. Hopefully this is just an anomaly and we will get back to good stuff next week.

Didn't hear any shout-out for Daisy, unless you meant the 'AD'.

I'm Tired of Pretending

I'm well aware that Nashville is straight up a Soap, which I'm okay with. Long running story arcs adds to the enjoyment of any show. But there's always the risk that it becomes too 'Soapy' and this episode is very much that. It's becoming a bit too convoluted with the whole "you love her, but she loves him, he loves somebody else...." plot. It's getting to be pretty redundant, especially with Juliette's "love life". So, it looks like she is now going to pursue Avery, who by the way just got back together with Scarlett, but you can tell that he is about to follow Juliette. And now we are being subjected to Gunner banging Scarlett's best friend, which she finds out about at the end of the episode. All I'm waiting for is a 'Evil Twin' to return from beyond with amnesia and we will be set.

It's all fun watching, but I think it's the least interesting aspect of the show right now. It's safe to say that Maddie's story-line has my attention more than anything as she navigates the choppy waters of having a relationship with both of her 'Dads'. I think it's gonna get a whole lot worse with Teddy as jealousy consumes him.

Tomorrow Never Comes

What the fuuuuuuuck! Two big cliffhangers for this episode came out of nowhere. One kinda made sense and the other doesn't not. The first one involved Will and what looks to be his apparent suicide with him standing on the tracks in front of an oncoming Train. I get that he is super depressed because he has to lie about his sexuality. But still, this wasn't expected. As for the other cliffhanger, it really did feel like it came out of left field because there was no setup. So some guy in a "Security Guard" jacket walks up to Teddy, gun in hand and tries to kill him. There's a struggle, the gun goes off and laying on the ground is his Wife. Now we have to figure out who wants Teddy dead. Who hired the man to take a shot at him? Is it Lamar? Is it Deacon? Those are too obvious and Deacon doesn't fit the profile. So, it's gotta be Lamar. But what does he gain from this?

Anyway, fantastic episode that also had a third "cliffhanger" when Juliette decides to bare her soul to Avery. Well, kinda. Scarlett got in the way at the end before she could say what she wanted to say, but it's clear that she has feelings for Avery and I think Avery feels the same toward her. This is Soap Opera 101 and why I'm enjoying the series.

I'll Keep Climbing

Another great episode and I thought they did a brilliant job with the editing, keeping the audience in suspense, waiting for the gruesome discovery of Will's body. The way it was edited, it took on this dark, foreboding feeling and we are all left to brace for what's about to come, especially when people start to wonder about where he is. I wasn't even disappointed that it's revealed that he is alive at the end because he walked away from the tracks. That dread the editors gave us was good enough to look past the eventual outcome.

We also got a couple of great songs in this one as well. I like both songs enough to want to own them. The first song was the one played by Gunner and Scarlet that they play for Kelly Clarkson and the second song was by Deacon and Maddie. Any of the songs that done acoustically on the show have always been far superior to the over-produced country songs.

Just for What I Am

Two more great songs, one by Deacon and Rayna and the other by Avery and Juliette. I actually liked the story behind the Avery/Juliette song better. With her career crashing around her, she is at her lowest depths of despair. So, what does Avery do to pick her up? Makes her wear glasses and a dark wig to disguise herself and just perform for the sake of performing. Sure, the "disguise" isn't much and anyone would, should and could have picked her out of a line up. But it was the idea behind it that made it a winner. The big revelation about Lamar potentially being the one that ordered the hit on Teddy wasn't that big of a reveal. He was prime suspect #1 from the get go.
