We are two episodes into Penny Dreadful. The sets, costumes and look is phenomenal. Pretty much absorbs you into the Victorian Period. The classic foggy London while cliché is always spooky.

I’m going to continue to watch this. There is a ton of interesting characters, each with their own secrets, getting involved in various ‘adventures’ here. While they are slowly revealing these characters, you do kind of get a sense of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. You have Victor Frankenstein, Doran Grey, Timothy Dalton seems a lot like Allan Quartermain.

So far each of the two episodes, they have had some unique scenes that will make you ask yourself, what the hell just happened. My complaint is there is sometimes too much setting up or talk between to hold my interest. These are introductory, so I expect that, but with hopes it picks up the pace.

Vanessa Ives is by far the most mesmerizing. I mean by stealing the screen with just her eyes. They’ve said very little about her and I’m willing to bet there is a lot going on with her to be revealed.
