The Contingency

This was a great return for the series and it comes with a different bent to it this time around. With Finch being held captive by Root, it's up to Reese to try and find him. I was pretty certain that they would wrap this up by the end of the episode. Not the case here at all. If anything, I think it's going to be quite a few episodes before he is rescued. What's interesting this season, particularly this episode is that they have given 'The Machine' a personality. With flashback scenes of Finch communicating with it, as well as Reese doing the same in current time, we are seeing more of the intelligence of the AI, which has a huge depth to the overall vibe of the show. Love it.

Also, another Lost vet pops up here as well with Ken Leung playing shady accountant Leon Tao who is on the run after stealing $8 Million from white supremacists. Not sure of Ken is joining full time, but I figure that with Finch twisting in the wind, Reese will need someone good with computers to help him out in situations. Also joining the family is a dog name Bear. Awesome.

Bad Code

Well, that ended a lot shorter than I thought it would go. I was certain that "rescuing Finch" would take a good chunk of episodes since it seemed to building toward something much bigger with Amy Acker's character Root. Even though he was rescued, it's nice to know that Amy will be back in a future episode. I hope she has a lot of future episodes. She is awesome in everything she's in.

Masquerade

Very good episode. It's funny how last season I was pretty sure that Carter would have a falling out with working with Reese and Finch because it goes against her code as a police officer in doing things 'by the book'. Well, it seems like she is really into how things are progressing because of how much good they are doing.

I like the scenes with Finch and Bear (the dog). At first Finch was steadfast in that he wasn't going to bond with the dog to suddenly playing catch with him to wanting to take him out for a walk. But that's when he has the panic attack being out in the open which of course shines a light on the fact that he is still suffering trauma having been kidnapped by Root. I like the ending where Reese goes for a walk with Finch and Bear to offer him a sense of security.

Triggerman

Pretty good episode where Reese and Finch have a decision to make: Protect the Girl or protect the killer that killed her man. But the best thing about the episode was the return of Elias (Enrico Colantoni) who is asked a favor of from Finch. In exchange for his help....a game of chess. So, are they going to be bridging the gap and making Elias a good guy? Who knows.......

Bury the Lede

Another kick ass episode as the hunt for HR continues. This is also the "romantic" episode where Reese gets set up on a blind date to use as a cover to get close to the Female Reporter who is being hunted down for getting to close to uncovering the true identity of the leader of HR. The final reveal at the end is pretty good. Let's just say that the Reporter already has a connection to the man in charge. Props to the return of Zoe. I need more Paige Turco!!!!!

Very cool to see David Denman pop up on POI. But even better was getting an entire episode with Paige Turco.

Yay! Ken Leung returns and finally shares some screen time with his Lost co-star Michael Emerson. When I first heard that Ken was joining the cast, I was under the impression that he would be a series regular. My guess is it will be more along the lines of what we get from Paige Turco when she occasionally pops up here and there. Very cool to see Julian Sands make an appearance. Since he didn't get whacked, my guess is he will have more episodes in the future. They set up at least one more episode for sure. Anything beyond that is a wait and see proposition.

Til Death

It was very cool to see Mark Pellegrino pop up on POI. For those that don't know or recognize his name, he is best known for playing Jacob on Lost. So, it was nice to get another alum sharing screen time with Michael Emerson. The episode itself was good and I like that they are now expanding the scope of the show to include social lives for both Fusco and Carter. No, not with each other, but with other potential love interests.

C.O.D.

Half the episode was basically to set up something much larger with Elias. Funny thing, they manage to do this without using a single shot of Enrico Colantoni in the role. I hope that they bring him back soon because he along with the character that he plays brings a lot to the story line. Elsewhere, very cool to see Reiko Aylesworth join the cast as Secret Service Agent Regina Vickers. Not sure how big of a role it is or for how long it will run, but whatever it is, she always brings her A-Game.

Shadow Box

Pretty huge turn of events at the end of the episode with Reese surrendering to the Feds, but he really didn't have any other alternative. He did have one trick left up his sleeve by turning himself in with 3 other suspects. So, this will mask his identity for the time being. I can only imagine how he is gonna get out of this little predicament and avoiding being captured as the 'man in the suit'. Solid episode.

Solid episode that sees the gang flying solo with Reese out of commission and sitting in Jail. It's up to Finch, Fusco and Carter to track and save a mathematical genius from elimination. Turns out that the one targeting him is...himself as he contemplates suicide over feeling guilty about his older brother's death from a few years earlier. Luke Kleintank guest stars as Caleb, who also has a small role on Bones.

Prisoner's Dilemma

Holy crap! The last couple of days have given me some incredible episodes. Along with Breaking Bad, this episode of Person Of Interest delivered in SPADES! The best way to describe Prisoner's Dilemma is to imagine a series of spinning plates on a highwire 200 feet above the ground and Carter somehow has to keep the plates spinning with the Fed literally in her ear feeding her questions to ask to root out 'The Man In The Suit'.

Along the way we get to see the return of Elias who actually comes to Reese's aid. Also, this episode gives us two endings. The first is when Reese is released from lockup because he was convincing enough to fool everyone. Cue The Who's Eminence Front as the soundtrack to his exit and you have an iconic scene. Loved it. Out of the woods right? Wrong. Both Carter and Reese are taking into custody by Mr. Fed who is promptly murdered by....Reese's Ex partner. BAM!!

Throw in the "story" involving Fusco and a Supermodel that made no sense whatsoever and you have a great comedic levity to an otherwise intense episode. A++++++++++.
