Big fan of Joss Whedon and everything he has done up till now. But my expectations for this one was tempered because no matter how hard you try, no matter how great the writing is, this is going to be a steep, up hill battle without any 'name' superheroes and actors to play them. What made The Avengers such a joy to watch was the culmination of all the stand alone films coming together and merging all the A-List Actors in one film. It was unique and exciting. You see how big that climb is now?

Loved the dialogue in the Pilot. Classic Whedon. But the episode itself took too long to get off the ground. I get that we have to go through the explanation of how Coulson "survived" and all that other stuff. The episode was just okay for me. Nothing spectacular. Even though Joss won't be writing or directing anymore episodes for the series (for now), I am still going to give this a few more episodes to see if they can come up with some decent Superheroes that can carry the series. It was kinda cool to see some Whedon vets in this one: J. August Richards and Ron Glass.
