An okay episode. I liked the idea of finally getting to see the SHIELD Academy. The only problem is that we really didn't get to see much. As a matter of fact, we really didn't get to see anything other than a lecture hall and the Boiler Room where the kids throw parties. Yeah, not what I was expecting either. We at least got more insight into Skye's past regarding her "parents". We also get to see the "birth" of Blizzard / Donnie Gill played by Dylan Minnette.

T.R.A.C.K.S.

Solid episode, one of the best for the series so far. I like that they (the writers) chose to tell the story of the team tracking a top secret device on a train by having it told from 4 different points of view given that the team was split up into pairs. Everything finally came together at the end when it's revealed that the tech device is actually the basis for J. August Richards' character, who till now remained a mystery. Really wasn't sure what the hell they were doing with his character Mike Peterson. Well, it's now out of the bag as he is playing Deathlok. Great ending regarding Skye. That's how you do a cliffhanger. Will she survive the gunshot wound? Who knows. I'm sure she will make it, but at what cost? Fantastic cameo by Stan Lee and one of his better ones at that. Most of his cameo's consist of walking into and out of frame with nothing said. This time he got in a few barbs and it was hella funny.

T.A.H.I.T.I.

Even though the objective in T.A.H.I.T.I. was one dimensional (a race against time to save the life of Skye), I still came away from the episode, liking it a lot. It doesn't get any linear than this one, but having Bill Paxton as Agent John Garrett along for the ride did make it better than it should have been. Putting an AK-47 in his hand is sure to make some people smile with glee, as I did. I was just waiting for him to start saying classic lines from Aliens;D I'm just glad that Paxton made it to the end, ensuring that we will see more from him in the future. It wouldn't shock me one bit if he found his way into one of the Marvel movies as well.

The biggest thing about this episode was getting more information regarding Coulson's operation and where it took place. What is uncertain at the moment (to me anyway) was who or what the Alien is that resides in the G.H. Tube. Not sure if I missed something in the movie or if this is a new Alien Race they are introducing to the series. Whatever it is, it's blood is what eventually saves Skye when she gets a shot of.....Alien Blood. The final scene introduces Lorelei who has arrived on planet Earth. This should be fun next week......

Yes Men

If you can't get Thor and Loki onto the series, and I highly doubt they will ever appear as it would in a way "devalue" the characters somewhat to 'slum' it on TV. So, if you can't get the heavyweights, the next best thing would be to bring in some of the "smaller" characters. Unless you are a stickler for all things Thor, you might have missed out on Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) amid all the bigger, larger than life characters populating the Marvel Universe. In this episode, Sif is hunting down Lorelei, who has fled her home world to seek "refuge" on Earth, with the intent of ruling over it. Duh. It was actually a good episode, if a bit predictable. But I like that the series finally tied itself to something concrete to that of the Thor films. I hope there are more of these types of crossover arcs in the future.

End of the Beginning

Up till now I have never liked the look of Deathlok because he didn't look anything like his comic book counterpart. Cool. He just looked very cheap, with none of the trimmings because this is a TV show and ABC can't "afford" to dress him up accordingly. Blows my mind that this kind of mentality would worm it's way into the show given that they are trying to tie directly into the Marvel Universe and the films that make up it's sandbox. So even though on the surface Deathlok still doesn't resemble anything like the character, they at least had a nice workaround in this episode by having  him being scanned  with those infrared drones to show exactly how Deathlok should look, which was really cool to see. Loved the last 5 minutes of the episode when it's revealed to the rest of SHIELD that May is "working for someone else". Loved that the ship is being commandeered by Victoria Hand (Saffron Burrows). This is leading somewhere good. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Turn, Turn, Turn

This. Was. Awesome! I make no bones about the fact that I had major issues with the series in the first half of the season, enough to question whether or not I would stick with it. I was literally and episode away from dropping the show all together. But over the remaining episodes, it has slowly started to create something good on a weekly basis. But it wasn't until Turn, Turn, Turn, where they truly gave me something Epic from start to finish. They finally delivered the episode I had been waiting and hoping to get. Based on the title of the episode alone, it's exactly that. There are so many twist and turns that you really are kept on your heels the entire time. So many misdirection to keep you guessing. I love that this was all about Hydra infiltrating SHIELD. Now that I've watched the episode, I kind of feel stupid for not seeing that it would be Bill Paxton's character as the Hydra mole. Well, one of them. The whopper comes in the final scene (which ironically enough, I saw coming a mile away) is when Agent Ward is revealed to be a Hydra mole himself and kills Victoria Hand to rescue John Garrett (Bill Paxton) from captivity. Since I haven't seen Captain America 2 yet, I'm guessing that Nick Fury's "death" plays a part of the film as it was mentioned in this episode as well.

Providence

Providence picks up right where it left off last week the Agents of SHIELD, on the heels of the events that take place in Captain American: Winter Soldier (which I have yet to see myself), has the team on the run. Literally. SHIELD is no more as they have been branded a terrorist threat to the world. With Nick Fury dead, what to do? Easy. Chase after a cryptic message that only Fury could have sent and lead the team somewhere in the Canadian Snow capped mountains. FYI, Fury is not dead, even though we never see him in the episode. The information comes courtesy of Agent Koenig (Patton Oswalt) who is the keeper of Providence, the secret base on Canada.

Meanwhile, Agent Ward and John Garrett bust out Raina and Ian Quinn from captivity and are mounting something BIG. It remains to be seen what exactly it is. As for Ward, I'm not 100% convinced he is a Traitor. This might just be something deeper and an easier way to infiltrate HYDRA if Garrett thinks he is with them. Torturing him for information would most likely prove useless. But getting on the inside, that can lead to lots of intel and a whole lot faster as well.

Bill is damn funny here without even having to try. I hope he sticks around for a long run on SHIELD.

The Only Light In The Darkness

Well, Agent Ward went from 'disliked' to 'hated' in a matter of seconds as soon as he killed off Patton Oswalt's character. It sucks that he run on the show came to an abrubt end. I was very much looking for him to expand to a recurring role. F*ck! The only episode was about whether or not anyone from SHIELD would be able to ferret out that Ward was working for HYDRA, especially Skye. Would she be able to figure it out before it was too late? Well, she does temporarily go into meltdown mode upon learning the grisly truth about him. But she is able to summon up the 'Agent' inside of her and is now using her new found knowledge. Keep you 'friends' close, but keep your enemies closer. I'm sure that Ward will see through her little charade pretty fast, but it should be fun watching this play out.

You know I loooooooooooooove Amy Acker, and I currently get a healthy dose of her on Person of Interest, but I was somewhat disappointed by her turn in this episode. It's not that she was bad. Far from it. It was her character that just didn't do anything for me. Amy has had a knack of playing some damn memorable characters over her career (Angel, Dollhouse, Alias, Person of Interest). So, to see her just playing a 'damsel in distress' character was kind of beneath her. The only way I get on board with this character is if they in fact have her as a recurring character as the love interest to Coulson. If they do that, then I'm 100% on board for her role and it makes perfect sense as to why she would be an 'ordinary' character. But if this turns out to be a one and done role, then really, what was the point of wasting Acker like that?

One of the best things that all the Marvel movies have done, including the series itself are the inclusions of the epilogue that closes out each story. You know, that 'Special Bonus Scene' that follows the end credits to give you one last thing to chew on until next time. Well, this one has a whopper of an epilogue. If you have been following the series, you know that the one thing driving Coulson is to uncover exactly who Nick Fury answers to, especially who gave him the go ahead regarding the TAHITI project that saved Coulson's life. Through a Top Secret, Eyes Only video file, we see Coulson telling Fury to pull the plug on the project due to side effects. So, since we already know how the story played it, the revelation is that Fury went against Coulson's wishes and not only that, uses the project on Coulson himself. The eventually confrontation between the two should be explosive.

That's just the ending of the episode. Everything that came before was just as good, especially Skye playing Ward long enough to alert the Police to their whereabouts. It's all for naught as Deatlok intervenes and takes her hostage again. Leave it up to Coulson to rescue her and using his convertible car as an escape.....from 30,000 feet in the air. It was fun and watching the car fly around and landing was very reminiscent of the Delorean from Back to the Future Part II. Bonus points for Cobie Smulders cameo in this one, further tying the series to the films. I'm really glad I stuck with the show and hope that ABC renews it for a Second Season. It would be tragic if they cancelled the series now.
