The Flash - Why Mark Hamill's Casting is More Than Just Nostalgia - IGN Conversation

I had no idea that Amanda Pays was also coming back from the 90's Flash show. What a great day this has turned out to be for fans of both series.

Episode 9
The Man In The Yellow Suit

What a great f*cking episode! It had everything and by that, I mean a lot of sh*t went down. Barry comes face to face with the man in the Yellow Suit (aka the Reverse-Flash) who was responsible for framing Barry's father for his mother's death. Then there was the first full appearance of Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm who had a hand in saving the Flash from impending doom. A couple of great heart-to-heart scenes, one with Barry and his father, who is the impetus for Barry finally revealing his true feelings for Iris. The other great scene was between Barry and  Joe, which would leave anyone teary-eyed after watching it. Amanda Pays returned for the first time. She has not aged well. The final scene was a great cliffhanger. We all suspected that Dr. Harrison Wells was the Reverse-Flash leading up to this episode. But that was squashed when both were in the same place at the same time. Well, it was revealed that there was/is another man in the Yellow Suit: Him!!!!! This is how you do a Christmas episode!!!  ;D

Great discussion. Roth hit on the very same things I thought made this a spectacular episode. I like that she said her two favorite scenes were the ones with Barry and his two dads.

LIAM MCINTYRE LATEST ROGUE TO JOIN "THE FLASH"

The only thing I've seen Liam in is Spartacus. Will be interesting to see what he brings to The Flash. So, I mentioned over in the Arrow thread about how I think someone has serious love for Spartacus. This makes it another actor joining the ranks of Flash/Arrow now.

Episode 10
Revenge of the Rogues

This was a real treat for any fan of Prison Break. This one had the reunion of Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell who played brothers in the aforementioned series. It was great to see them back together again and further more, this episode had a lot of them. It wasn't just some small cameo. They dominated the episode and got a lot of air time. Loved the ending when both of their characters (Captain Cold and Heatwave) are arrested and then later you see them dressed in Prison Orange Jumpsuits in the back of the paddy wagon, where they escape from an unseen person who Captain refers to as "Sis". It would be fitting if it turned out to be Sarah Wayne Callies in that role. How awesome would that be?

Episode 11
The Sound and the Fury

Apparently Pied Piper / Hartley Rathaway is a big deal in the world of Flash. Personally, I've never heard of this specific character. The episode was just okay for me. For someone that is suppose to be a heavy hitter, I found his powers to be a little lacking as far as something that rivals other super villains we have seen so far. Sure, he can do sonic booms and lift cars and what not. It just didn't look all the impressive. The one thing I thought was going to happen when he allowed himself to be captured and incarcerated was that this was all part of his plan to break out the other inmates. I have been expect that little plot to reveal itself at some point in the series. It just didn't happen tonight. I think when they capture more Meta Humans and the place starts to fill up, someone will do exactly that.

Episode 12
Crazy For You

I really liked this episode and not for the reasons that you think. Sure, we got a new character with the kick ass ability of teleporting and giving The Flash a......run for his money. Peek-a-Boo is a great addition and the FX look fantastic. Definitely a step up from last weeks Villain IMO. The thing that makes this episode better for me was the fact that we finally got to see more from both Cisco and Caitlin as their roles are starting to expand a bit more and what they are doing actually adds to the overall story. I particularly liked seeing both Caitlin and Barry out on the town doing "surveillance" recon at a bar and end up singing karaoke and getting drunk. It may not seem like much, but it offered up more into what makes them tick. They are gradually ramping up Firestorm's story. Can't wait to see this one play out, most likely as the Seasons Cliffhanger.

Episode 13
The Nuclear Man

Solid episode for a couple of reasons. First was that we finally got a full episode devoted to Firestorm. They have been teasing the character for quite some time.  But because of the way it ended (a nuclear blast), they may be going back into hibernation, leaving the viewer to assume that he, along with Dr. Martin Stein are dead, which I don't buy for one second. But I think the writers need to put the character on the back-burner now that Cisco discovered that the blood at Barry's crime scene from when he was a kid is "older". They have to ramp the Reverse-Flash back up, heading into the finale. I wouldn't be surprise of Firestorm makes an appearance during the Season Finale.  The other thing I liked about the episode was giving Barry a love interest. Don't want to haev to sit through any more of his pining for Iris.

Episode 14
Fallout

Awesome episode! Obviously this was a two-part arc. I was sure that the Nuclear explosion at the end of the last episode would be it for awhile regarding Firestorm. Nope. Not only does he survive, Ronnie and  Dr. Martin Stein are finally separated into two entities and head back to their 'normal' life as it was before the accident. Easier said than done. Even apart, each is able to feel the pain of the other. What I found to be cool is that by the end of the episode, they both have come to terms in who and what they are and basically come together again to fight General Wade Eiling. Even better is that they are now able to merge and separate at will, which will be their thing from here on out. The FX utilized in this episode was sick.

Another interesting thing is that Barry learns about Time Travel and that he was in fact in the same room during the murder of his mother. Now that he knows, he is going to try and change the past and save her. I liked that they name dropped both Terminator and Back to the Future in the consequences of doing such things. Best FX of the night was Grodd, the super Gorilla. I think it's safe to say that we won't be seeing General Wade anymore, which sucks cause I wanted to see more Clancy Brown on the show. We also finally get the unmasking of Reverse-Flash. We all knew it was Dr. Wells. It was just cool to see him reveal himself in costume.

Episode 14
Out of Time

If you want epic, watch the final 5 minutes of this episode and be prepared to be blown away. Pun not intended. The episode itself without the final 5 minutes was already a great episode with the addition of Liam McIntyre as Mark Mardon / Weather Wizard. Yep, it's another actor from Spartacus and this time they got the main dude for the role. Off the top of my head this would make the 5th actor from the series to show up on either The Arrow or The Flash. He did a great job with the character and brings a bit more weight to the proceedings. But unfortunately for him, no one is going to talk about it because all anyone will want to talk about is what happens at the end of the episode. Cisco discovers that Dr. Wells is in fact the Reverse-Flash and promptly kills him. I do however think this will be fixed due to time traveling so I'm not too worried that they actually killed him off. But it's what happens next with Barry and Iris that elevates the episode even more. She finally accepts and professes her love for him and he in turn reveals himself to be the Flash and proceeds to do his best to stop a tidal wave from destroying the city. Barry runs so fast that he does in fact go back in time which is why I think Cisco can and will be saved.

Episode 15
Rogue Time

So, just as I suspected, the events of last week were in fact rendered obsolete with Barry changing the course of the immediate future, one that kept Cisco alive and Iris still in the arms of another man, With this new course of action, things do change and not for the better. I was kind of surprised to see Barry apprehend the Weather Wizard within the first 5 minutes of the episode. This paved the way to the new altered future. With Wizard out of the way, we saw the return of Captain Cold and Heat Wave along with Snart's sister Lisa. The episode was decent, but I do have issues with the idea that Flash and Captain Cold would "come to a mutual understanding" that he would leave the city and carry on elsewhere. It just didn't feel right even if he did know his secret identity. It was all just a little too convenient.
