The Flash | Season 3 Comic-ConŽ: First Look | The CW

The season finale to Season 2 is still on my mind. It was a fantastic set up for what's coming in Season 3. Man, waiting for the return of Flash is torture.

Episode 1
Flashpoint

Pretty good premiere. This was probably my most anticipated return for any of the shows that I watch and it didn't disappoint. Was really curious how it would play out. I knew that they would drive home the fact that Barry was finally happy now that he had both parents to lean on.The events pick up 3 months from the end of the Season 2 Finale and everything is all roses for him. The interesting thing was that the more Barry uses his speed power, the faster his memories start to fade from his previous timeline. Naturally this means he would eventually have to reset the events as it was before which is what the episode ends on. The epilogue is that everything is not the same which is a great way to kick off the rest of the season. Where did he go wrong and how does he fix this without doing even more damage? I was surprise that they reversed course so quickly. I was expecting at least half the season to be devoted to Barry's alternate reality. It was fun to see how everyone else's life had changed in the alternate reality. Too bad we can't get more of that.

Episode 3
Magenta

Yay! Harrison and Jesse Wells return! I wasn't entirely sure they would be coming back because their scene at the end of Season 2 played, looked and felt like it was their swan song. Props to great editing on that. I liked Harrison's new catchphrase "Not". It's a cheap life for sure, but it did the trick. 3 things are at play here. A new character called Magenta, who can levitate things. Not sure if she is going to be a recurring character though. Her powers really don't offer up much to keep her around. Jesse returns as a Speedster. We even get a glimpse of her new costume....albeit in a box. Can't wait till next week to see her don the new threads. As for Wally, it's clear what they are setting up. A man hellbent on getting his own set of powers will of course seek out Alchemy and make a deal with the devil. I hope they do it soon so that Barry and the rest of the gang will have ample opportunities to take on "Kid Flash", especially if he is evil.

Episode 8
Invasion!

Part 2 of the 4 Night Event picks up where the we left off at the end of Supergirl. Now, what exactly would prompt Barry and Cisco to seek out Supergirl's help? I was certain it was going to be to take down another Superhero Villain. Isn't that how it always works out to be? Well, not in this case. It's literally an Alien Invasion taking over Earth. So right there, I consider this to be a win. It's something different from the norm. Even better is that we get a Team Vs. Team showdown, which is something I was not expecting to get either. By Team, I mean EVERYONE against The Flash and The Green Arrow. The ending with selected Superheroes being beamed aboard the Alien Mother-ship was a nice way to close out the episode and all but guaranteed that you will tune in for Part 3. The only negative I have about this episode was Wally West. I can't stand him at all. It's not just this episode, it's been every episode that has him in it. I just don't like the character or the actor that portrays him. Very annoying.

Arrow
Season 5 / Episode 8
Invasion!

Part 3 was more of an Arrow/Legends Crossover with Supergirl and The Flash making cameos and I was fine with that. The bulk of the episode had Team Arrow and select members of Team Legends in stasis on the Mother-Ship as their comatose selves try to make sense of what is real and what are flashbacks of their former lives. I liked this plot twist as it gave the writers a chance to bring back some former characters, most notably Oliver's parents as well as Laurel. The big cliffhanger at the end had the Mother-Ship bearing down on Earth. To be continued in Legends of Tomorrow.......

Season 3 Finale
Episode 23
Finish Line

This season has been a blast to watch with Savitar as the Big Bad that Barry Allen and his crew have to deal with. With Barry going back in time and altering Present Day, he sets off a chain of events that leads to the death of Iris West, which becomes the focal point of what everyone does moving forward. It's all about stopping this. The question is...how do they stop it when everything seems to fall apart during their journey. A few episodes back, we finally got to see who was hidden beneath Savitar's armor. When it turned out to be a remnant of Barry Allen, I thought it was great. Good Barry going head to head with Evil Barry was fun to watch. But it was the Season Finale that had everything coming to a head. I don't know how they are able to still get me misty eyed after 3 seasons, but once again, they pull off another scene...or two that just makes you love the show even more. The ending was unexpected. I didn't foresee Barry surrendering himself to willingly go into the Speed Force. But then again, I should have seen this coming when Jay Garrick returned to help take down Savitar. Can't wait for Season 4 to start. Really curious to see what becomes of Killer Frost as she goes off on her own.
