Not sure why I'm adding an 'Episodes' header when AMC doesn't stream online. Oh well....

IGN News : Walking Dead Season 4 Confirmed

I find it very eye opening that the second showrunner is bailing on the show. Think about it, Frank Darabont left for the same reasons when AMC started meddling. I get the feeling that the Corporate Suits at AMC think they are the reason why the show is successful and therefore they should be allowed to get involved with day to day operations of the show. If this keeps up, I find it very hard to see this series lasting longer than 5 Seasons regardless of how well it does in the ratings.

AMC Called “Small-Minded” In Wake Of Shocking “Walking Dead” News

Quote
This morning we dropped the bomb that, even with the renewal of a fourth season, AMC had parted ways with “The Walking Dead“ showrunner Glen Mazzara.

The release was issued jointly, citing creative differences – you know, where the artist gives up in attempting to deal with the powerful suits. I’ve heard through the grapevine that an alleged huge issue that has lingered with the series is that AMC is always trying to cut budget, even though it’s one of the biggest shows on cable. I’ve also heard that, because AMC has no partners (with “Mad Men” they are partnered with Lionsgate TV), there’s nobody to tell them “no.”

Anyways, some AMC alum have been vocal, with “Sons Of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter, pictured below, taking to Twitter on Friday calling the network executives “small-minded, bottom-line thinkers who have no appreciation or gratitude for the effort of its creative personnel.” Caught by Deadline, he also warned that without Mazzara at the helm the “future is dim” for “The Walking Dead”. Read his full assembled rant inside.

Says Kurt Sutter: “AMC is run by small-minded, bottom-line thinkers who have no appreciation or gratitude for the effort of its creative personnel. Time and time again we see events like what happened today with Glen Mazzara. They continue to disrespect writers, **** on their audience and bury their network. Mazzara took the work-in-progress that was “Walking Dead” and turned it into a viable TV show with a future. Without him, that future is dim. Showrunners are not development executives, we’re not cookiecutter ****s that you plug into a preexisting model. TWD will suffer. Even Zombies need consistency. “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad” will be gone soon. So will AMC. I hope their f*cking stock takes a dive and the shareholders line up (Josh) Sapan, (Charles) Dolan and (Charlie) Collier and **** in their open hands. C*nts.”

Like I said, I doubt TWD will make it past 5 Seasons, if they are lucky to get that far. I just don't understand why a Company like AMC would kill it's Golden Goose by meddling in something they have no business in. They are literally biting the hand that feeds them. Ugh!!

Michonne's on a horse (and more!) in 1st poster for Walking Dead S4

Quote
One of the best things about Comic-Con is the awesome promotion. You get to see custom-made trailers, footage and posters. One of the convention's most popular panels is AMC's The Walking Dead. Every year, it's preceded by great marketing and this time is no different. The network just released the first teaser poster for Season 4 and it's overrun by zombies.

Four members of the cast take center stage. The poster features Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman) all wielding their favorite weapons: a gun, crossbow, sword and hammer. The new season can't get here fast enough. Michonne is on a horse, guys. We repeat, Michonne is on a horse.

I wonder what kind of reception TWD gang will get this year at Comic Con. Last year was complete bedlam. I got caught in a mosh pit because people were pushing and shoving trying to get closer to the action.

AMC's The Walking Dead Season 4 Preview Weekend Marathon Launches July 4

Quote
Starting Thu., Jul. 4 at 1PM/12c AMC invites viewers to tune-in to "The Walking Dead Season 4 Preview Weekend" and catch up on the series that has been hailed by USA Today as "one of the season's best series," and reigns as the number one show in delivery for adults 18-49. The Walking Dead marathon will be hosted by Comic Book Men executive producer Kevin Smith from the Atlanta-based set where the cast are currently filming Season 4 of the hit series. Smith talks to the cast and crew and shares behind-the-scenes footage from the highly anticipated upcoming fourth season. The first season of The Walking Dead airs twice on Jul. 4, featuring marathons of both the original and special black-and-white editions. These are followed by Season 2 on Fri., and Season 3 on both Satu. and Sun. Each day of this four-day event begins at 1PM/12c. (However, the black-and-white editions only apply to Season 1 on Jul. 4).

The Walking Dead returns this October with brand new episodes. Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead tells the story of a group of survivors who travel in search of a safe and secure home in the months and years following a zombie apocalypse. The series stars Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Melissa McBride, Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green and Emily Kinney.

So I take it that the marathon will just be behind the scenes interviews on location and no actual new scenes from the upcoming Season? Perhaps a world premiere Season 4 Trailer? I think it will most likely be saved for a Comic Con Panel premiere if there is one in the works.

Rumor has it that the Season 4 Trailer will debut tomorrow at Comic Con.

Agreed. Not only that, I think this is going to literally take the series in a whole new direction. I loved Season 3, but part of me felt like both the characters and the viewers were hijacked and stuck in the same place. It was either prison or woodland. I want to see them get out more and more....scavenge for food and whatnot and now, throwing in a mole makes it better.
