Probably has always been there since Woodbury went dark. It's possible that he is the one feeding the rats to the walkers in an effort to draw the walkers to the fence with the intent of having them crowd and then take down the fence. This also implies that he would have always had a way inside the prison in order to do just that.

Could be, but the feeding came from the inside. You saying he worked his way inside the fence?

I always thought the rat thing was one of the kids, who really didn't understand the zombie thing.

Yeah, it's possible he has found a way inside and this is nothing more than a game to him. My first thought was that it was one of the kids. Not so sure anymore. It's still a possibility that it's the little girl who gave the Walkers names. But that's too obvious now.

Live Bait

When the episode opened started, I immediately knew that it would basically be an entire episode via flashback to show what the Governor has been up to the past 6 months or. I was somewhat p*ssed......for about a couple of minutes. Then I realized that we needed this episode because I really didn't want to spend the rest of the season wondering what he had been up to and it would slow things down in later episodes if they spent any more time on this. So, good call by the writers. Interesting episode which was all about Governor. The original cast makes no appearances. What I found particularly interesting was how they tried to "humanized" him when he comes across a stranded family, surviving on their own. Do I think the Governor is reformed? Absolutely not. He may be able to toe the line for the time being, but there will come a time (probably by the Season Finale) where he will unleashed his fury again. FYI, that little girl is gonna need a shrink after witnessing some of the most brutal kills in front of her. Yikes.

I hesitantly agree. I think it was good they gave us the backstory. But it started to drag on. I like the new character of the woman that is tough.

I found it interesting how the Governor’s overall demeanor was portrayed. Quite, humble, non-caring, sick.

Was anybody else besides me thinking the whole time Snake Plissken?

In the beginning of the show, they were showing catch-up, I immediately started thinking again about the other two guys that left with Governor. Why didn’t they immediately blow him away, first chance they got? Are they that stupid? Secondly, where are they now? We have this little gap of him suddenly on his own.

I found it VERY odd, him sleeping in a pup-tent in the middle of nothing.

I kinda liked that they just left him. Maybe it was to teach him a lesson that he is an island unto himself therefore he will have to fend for himself....alone. Sure, the smartest thing to do would be to eliminate him. Why would you want to have that in the back of your head that he could resurface later, only to mete out his own personal justice. Well, we are about to see that given the final scene when his former soldier finds him in the pit with the little girl.

Never made the Snake Plissken connection. In hindsight, yeah. But when it was playing out, I didn't see it because all I saw was the 'Governor'. I did laugh at the idea that anyone would think they were secure and protected by a thin piece of nylon fabric.

Looks like hell broke loose with ditching Darabont

Frank Darabont Finally Talks Being Fired From 'The Walking Dead'

Quote
It’s been quite a while now since we found out that Frank Darabont was fired by AMC from his position as showrunner of The Walking Dead. This after only one season of a show he developed for five years; of a show he talked Andrew Lincoln and Jon Bernthal into starring in; of a show that would become explosively popular on its way to becoming one of AMC’s biggest shows of all time, joining titles like Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Darabont has been busy since then working on his next project, Mob City, which looks fantastic and is set to debut on TNT December 4th.

But one thing we’ve never heard is a comment from Darabont himself on the drama that unfolded. Now that changes, with the Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, and The Mist director finally sharing his thoughts. And as you might have imagined, he’s not at all pleased with how things went down.

Continue reading to see what he had to say.

Speaking to Rolling Stone as part of a larger interview you can check out there next months, Darabont was first asked if he’s kept up with the show, with mention that fans of creator Robert Kirkman’s comic weren’t too fond of where things had gone since his firing:

“Have not? Well I wouldn’t know. Because, for the same reason that if the woman that I loved left me for the Pilates instructor and they sent me an invitation to their wedding, for the same reason I wouldn’t go to the wedding, I haven’t seen an episode of The Walking Dead since then.”

Darabont then went deeper into the the subject, saying:

“Look, I really haven’t spoken of this yet – I will, I’ll get there – but I had to take some time off after that to really reassess everything, to really get over the emotional devastation of having some truly malevolent people tear asunder a brilliant family that had gathered to create this hit for them. It was a very, very deep and loving family, the cast and the crew, and to have that torn apart was – when somebody throws a hand-grenade into that situation, it’s tremendously emotionally trying. So would I want to watch another episode of The Walking Dead after that? Are you **** kidding me? No, you put that traumatic disappointment behind you and move on with your life.”

So there that is. After a couple of years of silence on the topic, Darabont has shared his thoughts. And he was and still is clearly as angry about it as everyone assumed he was. And has every right to be.

Dead Weight

He's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! You can take the Governor out of Woodbury, but you can't take Woodbury out of the Governor. I knew that the old Gov would return, but I thought it would be much longer before he eventually snapped. So, when that golf club comes out of nowhere and attacks Martinez, it was a big surprise. Feeding him to the Walkers in the pit was vintage Gov. Nasty. So, now Gov has basically gone out and killed to inherit another Woodbury and of course an Army. Still not sure what's gonna happen once he makes his presence known to Rick and company. I purposely turned off next weeks sneak peak. Don't wanna see what's coming till I'm watching the episode. Cool to see Kirk Acevedo (Oz, Fringe) joining the cast. But how long will that last? Just look at Enver Gjokaj (Dollhouse). He didn't even make it to the end of this episode.
