I'll be interested in your take on Ep. 3 Moulder & Scully and the Were-Monster.

It became clear very quickly they were harvesting one the comedy genres from the series. From what I remember, I was Ok with them.

Ya, not so much today. I was truly rolling my eyes, actually embarrassed, sitting with my wife, trying to convince her... THIS IS NOT TYPICAL. I could not wait for the silliness to end. I'm not totally convinced reviving X-files was a good move.

Episode 3
Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster

This episode was f*cking hilarious!!! For those that actually got to view and review this episode 2 weeks ago, I agree with them. Instant classic that reminded me of Josť Chung's From Outer Space and Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, which is still the benchmark of any X-Files episode that dives head first into comedic territory. Watching Were-Monster play out reminded me why I loved those funny episodes that were far and few. This episode was so on tonight, I literally thought I was watching a lost episode from Season 2 or 3. The series hasn't skipped a beat. Loved the Easter Eggs that they peppered throughout the episode, especially the Headstone with the late Kim Manner's name on it, who directed a lot of great episodes. Loved the fact that Mulder's ringtone is the actual Theme song for the series. When I was watching the opening credits roll and saw that Darin Morgan had directed this, I knew EXACTLY what to expect. He delivered.

Episode 5
Babylon

I'm not a fan of back-door pilots, which this clearly was. Since this is only a 6 episode event, why the f*ck would Chris Carter waste an episode shifting focus onto two new characters that may or may not get their own series? With so much attention on these characters, Mulder and Scully are reduced to minor characters in their own show. So, we are really getting just 5 episodes and not 6 if you want to look at it that way. Disappointed. The other thing that really irked me is that they chose to make these new characters carbon copies of Mulder and Scully. Do we really need to have both with Red Hair? With that said, the highlight for me and the only thing that was worth anything was Mulder's drug induced hallucination that gave us the return of The Lone Gunman and more CSM.

Episode 6
My Struggle II

I'm f*cking p*ssed at Chris Carter for what he gave us as a Season Finale and quite possibly the series finale....again. Seriously. what the f*ck was up with this episode? Because this was the final hour, that meant they had to ramp up everything to fit within the allotted time and because of that it suffers tremendously. To say that this was rushed is an understatement. To have everything coming to a head out of nowhere just showed that Carter lost it from the outset. Had this been a 2 hour finale, a lot of the problems could have been dealt with. But that wouldn't have changed the ending which just....ends and sucked royally. Very unsatisfying to say the least. If this is it, this is going to eat away at me. With that said, I did like the little subplot that brought back Agent Reyes and explained how she was directly involved with nursing CSM back to health. Would have been nice to get some update on the whereabouts of Agent Doggett.

As much as I liked the stand alone episodes this season,  Carter really f*cked up by not dedicating all 6 episodes to the mythology of the series. It's what everyone wanted and what needed to be told. It's why I thought the series was coming back for. So, in the end, all we got were 2 episodes with a lame ending with no f*cking resolution. UGH!!!! F*CK!!!!

I guess I'm not as pissed as you, because I have not been feeling the nostalgia for the series. It was awesome in it's day, but today, I just don't feel 'it'. With the solid run of 6 episodes, this should have been laid out better. Cramming so much into the last episode with a total WTF, tettering on absurd ending, I just said Par for the course. Network television still has a lot to learn from it's continual ignorance of programing by Netflix, HBO, AMC, etc. FOX was probably so happy to sign Chris Carter and the gang on, they were just open arms with anything thrown at them.

Seriously don't care if this comes back. I'm not dying to know what happens with Mulder or the 'spaceship' or the smoking man.
