As I mentioned elsewhere, I have been putting in a lot of hours in GTA V Online, trying to get as much done as far as missions go as well as achievements before my 1 month Gold membership expires. Recently, I have been deabating whether or not to return to GTA IV to play as I haven't touched that game in a couple of years if not longer. But the more I think about playing it, the less I want to leave the world of Los Santos in GTA V. Even though I liked GTA IV back in the day, Liberty City itself left me feeling cold. The fictional city is based on New York and all that it implese. Yes, there's even a Statue of Liberty.

I think the reason why I will always choose Los Santos over Liberty City is based on a real-world bias of mine. I'm a West Coast kid. As fascinating as it was to play on the East Coast, it just can't hold a candle to life on the West Coast, be it in video games or real life.

Here's a story of why I think GTA V Online is simply the greatest thing ever for gaming. The Online mode is unpredictable and offers something new each and every time you play it. Case in point, this is what happened to me this afternoon. One of the things that happens in Online Mode is that you can get a Bounty placed on your head, ranging from $1k to $15k. What happens when you get a Bounty on you is that your White Dot on the map turns into a Red Skull, which tells all the other players currently online that you are a target. Whoever kills the player with the Bounty collects the reward.

Bounties set off a chain reaction as players swarm on you from all sides, taking their shots and hoping for the best. It's both scary and exciting at the same time, in which you become the primary motivation for EVERYONE playing GTA V Online. So, once I was alerted to the Bounty being placed on me (a retaliation from another player who had a Bounty that I was trying to collect. I didn't succeed......yet). My first inclination when I realized I was Bounty marked was to head to the beach and I would just swim as far as I could out in the ocean. But after thinking about how exhausting that would be to button mash the entire time to make my player swim, I quickly thought of another way to go.

I went straight to the harbor to grab a helicopter and make pursuit of  the guy that placed the bounty on me. I tracked him down at the airport and we engaged in some mid air machine gun play. But I was taking to much damage, so I had to retreat back into the city away from the airport when I was being targeted by another player in a Luxury Plane. If you are in this plane, you can't fire any kind of weapons. So, I'm sure you can guess what happened next. We are 20,000 feet in the air when he is making flybys, trying to crash his plane into my helo. He nicked me a couple of times, but on the third flyby, he actually crashed into me, blowing himself up! But what was shocking is that my helo actually survived the blast, but I did take some serious damage as my helo's power had gone out and I had to land the top of a skyscraper as I was descending at a fast rate.

So, I'm trapped, with nowhere to go. Can't parachute off the building because I am surrounded by sh*tload of players waiting at the bottom of the building to pounce on me. What is worst is that I have a 3 Star Wanted Level. When you get 3 Stars or more, that's when Cops in Helo's descend on you and shoot at you. So, I'm on top of the building, ducking and dodging the bullets, trying to hide (if you can successfully hide for a certain length of time, the wanted level goes back to 0. So, this went out for a good 10 minutes. Did not think I would last much longer. But this is where the story gets good....

The player that placed the Bounty on me had gotten a different Helo with machine guns and came at me blasting away. So, I have to dodge this f*cker as well as two Cop Helos!!!!!!! It was INSANE. Whenever I had a few seconds of peace, I would unload on the player and I mean I UNLOADED like never before and I couldn't take him down! He was heavily armored, which saved him time and time again. But I didn't quit. I kept at it and ducked behind some cover waiting for his return fire. I didn't see him, but I heard a huge EXPLOSION and saw the wreckage of his helo on the corner of my rooftop. I immediately went over and just started unloading on the burning pile of junk when I realized that if you in it when it explodes, there is no surviving,

So, I gloat and start to walk away when I see that the f*cker had not only escaped from the helo, but he was parachuting/gliding onto my roof. We both started to panic to see who would be able to kill the other. By the skin of my teeth, I came out on top. This was a moment that I wished I had the ability to record it all because to me, this was EPIC in every way and it's something that will NEVER be duplicated by any other player for as long as the game exist, I eventually got the Ride Like The Wind Achievement, where you have to survive a full day with a Bounty on your head. Full day in GTA V is about 50 minutes of non-stop game play. I'm very proud of this particular achievement as it's insanely hard to get. Most people "cheat" by hiding in their garages or houses where other players can't get into for the entire duration of playtime. I did it the right way. Man, THAT was FUN!!!!

For obvious reasons, I had to document this moment here. If I can't have video, at least I will be able to read about it again and again in the future.

GTA 5 - Fall Through the Map Glitch

So, last night, my avatar got stuck in a repeated free fall glitch. The video above isn't the exact same thing as mine was uninitiated by myself. When I loaded the game and went to Online mode, I went to my garage and saw that all my vehicles were gone. When I started heading back tot the elevator, that's when my avatar fell through the floor and went into free fall mode. Repeatedly. What was trippy is that as I contiually fell over and over, you could see other players avatars doing the same thing. The cherry on top was hearing all the avatars screaming "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" as they fell. It was funny as f*ck. I had to exit Online and go to regular GTA V mode, but the problem persisted. I went back into Online Mode and tried a few things to get out of free fall mode. The one thing that worked was to just head down to the street instead of the garage. Problem solved.

Take a Road Trip to GTA V's Most Badass Real-Life Locations

Some kick ass screencaps of the in-game iconic locations compared to its real-life counterpart. Check out the above link. There are a bunch of videos on YouTube that offer a similar side by side comparison. But so far, I haven't found any videos worth posting. Some use horrible background music to derail any kind of enjoyment. Gonna suss out the good from the bad before posting any.

Honestly I think it's the best looking game ever. I forgot to post my thoughts when I was in the middle of my Chuck marathon, but there were a lot of instances in the show with exterior shots and I'd get goosebumps because I would see certain locations on the show and immediately recognize where it was in-game. It was THAT good. They recently announced the Xbox One version of GTA V, which only means the game will look even BETTER than it already is, which blows my mind.

Grand Theft Auto 5 In Slow-Motion: Remastered

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zy8GpudD2gs&list=UUKy1dAqELo0zrOtPkf0eTMw

This Slo-Mo video is f*cking awesome. I didn't realize just how much stuff I was missing. It's through no fault of my own. The game goes a 100 mph and one can be easily distracted by the missions or just by being chased by other players that you can't really take it all in the heat of the moment. But the video does an amazing job of highlighting some of those moments in great detail. I can watch this video over and over......

Grand theft Auto V Online: Heists Trailer

A big announcement dropped today and that was the first Heist Trailer for GTA V Online. For anyone that has owned the game since it came out, each and EVERYONE of us have been waiting patiently for a year and a half for the Heist game-play that was promised us on Day 1. Well, after reading the interview here, I totally understand why the long delay, especially given the huge scope of the forthcoming content that is set to arrive sometime in early 2015. Very pumped. Can't wait.

What if Grand Theft Auto V was the setting for a screwball crime comedy?

You know, if you get the PC version of the game (GTA IV), it comes with an in-game editor which is built in specifically for creator mini films like this. I will eventually get around to getting one just for that option. GTA V on PC comes out in January, 2015.

I'd start knocking out all the stories that I'e written over the years. There would be a few that would have to be updated to fit within the GTA World because as robust as the game is, it won't be able to accommodate everything on the page as it stands now. Obviously a couple of Sci-Fi heavy stories are off the table because they are unfilmable with the game. I think I'd be able to cheat my way through a couple of post-apocalypse stories I have if I shoot it out in the desert.

All PC games eventually have some serious MOD DLC and I wouldn't put it beyond seeing a redressing of the environment to help tell stories I want to tell.
