Taken 2

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this film...

... except for the fight scenes, Liam Neeson looks tired, Famke Janssen looks, uh... good, Maggie Grace looks like she's learning to read, the bad guys look like, uh, bad guys.

Look, this was clearly an uninspired money grab. Liam Neeson totally looked bored, or didn't want to be there. And rightfully so.

I know many sequels use the same formula... sometimes it works, sometimes not. Taken 2 is exactly like the first one. Set up the 'Taken' and then fight the bad guys... only this time Neeson's character has extraordinary abilities. Like for instance bagged and placed in a trunk, yet he counts seconds, left and right turns, sounds of surrounding area... I'm thinking so he knows where he's being taken somehow.

Those are just some of the eye rolling moments. Within 1 hour I lost complete interest. For a loudass movie with lots of fights, shooting and car chases, this was tired.

I can't even recommend this in anyway. Just watch the first one again.

That's just my take... It surprisingly is the No 1 in DVD sales this week. But that doesn't mean much really in the long run. Will people be watching this 6 months or a year. I highly doubt it.

DREDD performed miserably at the theaters. They are not sure why, but it did way better on DVD, enough to be now considered for a sequel.

The Double

I knew nothing of this movie before seeing the trailer on some recent film. I don't recall it hitting the theaters. So my wife is a huge Richard Gere fan and quite frankly, I have not seen a bad movie with him yet.

Starring Richard Gere and Topher Grace (with probably the worst haircut in cinema history), this immediately reminded me of the other Gere movie... The Jackal. The basic premise is finding a psychotic killer that no one has ever seen.

What makes this movie very interesting, and I'm not giving away a spoiler here, is from very early on, the movie reveals that Richard Gere is Cassius, the Russian killer, thought dead,  the FBI, CIA and everybody else is looking for. This brings a whole new dynamic at how you watch everybody, especially Gere play their parts.

I thought it was very entertaining. I highly recommend it for some unigue cat and mouse storytelling.

While you guys are watching serious movies, I just started watching all three Austin Powers movies.  Which will take forever because I keep rewinding.  I can't believe the first one is 15 years old.

Great minds dude. I actually have these on deck for sometime next week. I wanted to end my James Bond marathon with these but I had to knock off some of the movies that were sitting at the library that had an expiration date or they go to the next person on the wait list.
