Sleepy Hollow is a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Halloween. Halloween you say? Yup. This is definitely a horror film with a antagonist that kills at will and who just won't die. The Headless Horseman is the precursor to characters like Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers. Although this is a great looking film and it does have that Tim Burton touch, especially during Ichabod Crane's (Johnny Depp) dream sequences, it's not one of his better films. Nothing against Depp, who I have been a fan of for years, but he really didn't bring much to the character of Crane. In actuality, anyone in Hollywood could have played him and gotten the same results. The movie really isn't about Crane, but more about the character and legend of The Headless Horseman. Depp's role was serviceable.

This is definitely worth a Rent. It should be scary for most people given the fact that this movie has more decapitations per minute than any other film I've ever seen. I say it 'should be'. I for one never got any kind of scare moment watching it the first time around and certainly not now, 14 years later.
