Christine Lahti guest stars as Steve's mother Doris aka Shelburne. I wasn't shocked to hear that she was a former Spy. It's fitting given that every one in the family is Military. Well, with the exception of course being his sister. Loved the prison escape sequence with the Helo jacking the armored truck with Wo Fat inside. Before we even got to the end, I knew there was something more to Wo Fat and Shelburne. It didn't make sense that he would just escape out a window when he had the drop on her. Good episode. Sucks that they killed off Reiko Aylesworth though. She is never on any series for long. Last time she had any kind of extended run was on 24.

I was very much looking forward to the return of Ed Asner as August March and that this episode would be the start of something longer. Boy, was I ever off the mark on this. I was totally caught off guard when he jumped into oncoming traffic to kill himself. Bah! Bummer. He was awesome in his guest stint last year. His role here wasn't as big, but he still had some funny moments. Too bad they killed off Reiko Aylesworth last week. If they could have just held out a little bit longer, we could have gotten a 24 reunion between her and Carlos Bernard in this episode. Bah!!

That was a fun episode. The best thing about the series is the Marriage-like relationship between Danny and Steve. Their constant bickering makes for some pretty good laughs and we got that and a lot more with both of them stranded out in the middle of the ocean. Throw in a sinking dingy and a tiger shark and you have a recipe for some fun, fun, fun. The case they end up working on was also pretty good. Nice to see Cynthia Watros pop up on the show. She is best known as Libby from Lost. It's just too bad that she didn't get to share in any screen time with Daniel Dae Kim.

I wasn't expecting to see Christine Lahti return so soon. I figured she would be on the run for a good chunk of episodes. Well, she is back and staying at Steve's house and as soon as she had the house to herself she digs something out of the floorboards to reveal a safe. In that safe is micro film. Although the contents are never revealed, my guess is that it has something to do with Wo Fat. Duh.

The beginning and the end with Movie-Date Night was very funny. Everything in between was probably the weirdest and definitely the "bloodiest" Five-O episode ever. Pretty good twist with the Grandmother being even more of a nut job than her Grandson. I'm not a fan of Satan worshiping story-lines, but this one was entertaining.

Great episode, even if the promo's were a little misleading. This one was hyped a lot with the guest appearance of Terrence Howard and T.I. So naturally, I thought the story would be present day and part of a new larger arc. Turns out that their scene was only a flashback of Danno's, recounting how he and his partner were held captive. She dies, and as it turns out, her name was Grace, which is what he eventually names his daughter. The twist (a very good one I may add) at the end is that all this took place on 9/11 (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/general-discussion/911-296/msg1483/#msg1483) in New York.

They assembled a great cast with a lot of good cameos with Martin Starr, Alan Ruck, Carlo Roto and Shelley Berman who was frickin' awesome! The new generation probably doesn't know the name all that well, but will definitely recognize him for his most recent work for playing Larry David's father on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Martin Starr was funny in this one as well. I liked the reunion at the end of the episode between Christine Lahti and Taryn Manning's characters.

Unusual, but very entertaining episode. Why unusual? For starters, it was all about the women in this episode with two of them showing a side that up till now, we haven't seen before. Catherine who up to this point has just be so under utilized as the "girl that pushes a button". But in this one she is straight out of a James Bond flick with her ability to scale tall buildings, breaking into safes and just looking all around bad ass. As for Doris, she turns into Jack Bauer in torturing a killer that has been tracking her. Using a car battery to shock him into giving a confession would make Bauer very proud. Also, very cool to see Vanessa Marcil turn up as a Madame with 'Killer' instincts. I enjoyed her guest spot and was hopeful this would be the start of a bigger arc. Sadly, it's not.

Nice to see Carlos Bernard return for an episode. Does this mean he is gonna be back more and more? Who knows. I'd like to see it happen.

A better than average episode. It was a bit uneven. I thought the outlandish setup for the bank heist/death by suicide was pretty good. It gave C. Thomas Howell a spot to shine, even if it was a small role. But the whole 'Stalker' angle wasn't satisfying. Before it good ever get off the ground, Danny guns her down. Okay, that was it? Like I said, uneven. Also, this episode really was more of an infomercial for the Victoria's Secrets Show that airs annually on CBS. This part I did like. Yowzza! It looks like Rumer Willis is joining the cast for the time being as a potential love interest for Max. It's just a question of when it's gonna all implode. Relationships on this show never last.

The best part about the episode was the smackdown that Catherine gave to the bad guy. It was awesome. I though the opening with the Helicopter bit was pretty funny as well. But the kid that was basically the anchor for most of the episode is a horrible actor.

Another Lost reunion as Jeff Fahey makes a cameo as a researcher. He still looks the part of Frank Lapidus though has he never shaved off his beard. Also popping up was Matt L. Jones who is best known as Badger on Breaking Bad. Seeing him playing a computer hacker was kind of weird. But hey, at least he was a stoner hacker.

Awesome episode. Having Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) kidnapped and thrown into prison made for an exciting episode. Add Jason Scott Lee into the mix and you have a winner. Cool to see him return. And I like that they are bringing back....well giving Will Yun Lee more screen time lately. Now that he has escaped from prison, I see him getting some kind of big arc in the foreseeable future. Also cool to see Lindsay Price on the show. I haven't seen much of her at all lately. Looks like they are setting her up as potential love interest for Chin.

A dead  h o o k e r  in a Congressman's bed to help steal an election. What a novel idea. The twist is that Wo Fat is behind this, which is something I didn't foresee coming at all. I thought this would be some love triangle or something or a disgruntled intern staffer. It was cool to see Stephanie Jacobsen who I haven't seen in anything since Melrose Place went belly up. Ugh. Another series that had so much potential and 100% no support at all.

Interesting episode that saw them change the font back to the original series and this is also the first time that they actually labeled the name of an episode in the credits: Hookman. Guest stars Peter Weller and Charlie Murphy. Both actors I think were wasted here. They could and should have given Peter a bigger role and something that could have tied into the mythology of the show. He was great in 24 and I could see him playing something along those lines. But in this one, he is some hitman with a vendetta out for revenge. Murphy's role was nothing more than a thug that gets capped. I did like the scene between Steve and his Father (William Sadler) at the end.

The reason for the font and title inclusion in this episode is because it was a remake of the same plot and story from the original series. A homage if you will.

Looks like Treat Williams is joining the cast as a love interest for Christine Lahti's character. I thought the set up was pretty good knowing full well that she would see right through his surveillance tactics. That definitely came back to bite Steve on the ass. As for Summer Glau's role in this one, it was a bit too small. Should have been bigger. But at least she had a kick ass fight scene at the end. Keith Jardine, with all the cameo's he makes on TV shows, you would think he would get some lines other than growling and grunting. Typecast anyone?

It would have made more sense to have this air immediately after the actual Pro Bowl itself. Well, I get that post production for any hour long series takes 4 weeks time. So, I get why the delay. But still. Anyway, decent episode. I thought the 'Pro Bowl' tickets and anything else associated with the game was by far the best part of the episode. I particularly liked the final scene with Steve and Danny on the football field. Michelle Borth as Catherine makes an awesome girlfriend....even if she is just a character on a show. Football fan. Access to Pro Bowl tix. What more can ya want? Oh yeah, she's hot too!

Deja Vu! It was like watching the exact same episode from Bones as seen here (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/tv/bones-(season-8-2012)/msg16844/#msg16844) from last month. Both episodes use the same plot and set up to get one of their own onto a Roller Derby team in the effort to gather information about the death of one of their own when the teammates refuse to share any info with the Cops. Although it was cool to get Catherine more screen time and it didn't hurt to have her wearing hot shorts, the episode was pretty blah. First off, the actor's playing the teammates were really bad actors and second, the production value of the 'Derby' was cheap. They didn't even bother to have the championship game take place on a real Derby Track. They chose to just have them rolling around in a circle on a basketball court. Come on CBS! Open the purse strings pay for proper sets! Sheesh!!

Best episode this season by far. It was the Steve and Catherine show as both head to North Korea to retrieve the body of Steve's war buddy, who was KIA and held captive for three years. A lot of flashback scenes to flesh out their mission to coincide with Steve's current mission. The ending had me choked up. Very sad...and yet very touching.

Welcome back Terry O'Quinn. I can only assume that he is back on the show now that his other failed show on ABC didn't take flight with viewers. I'm guessing we will get a handful of recurring guest spots from him. Norman Reedus had a small cameo in this one as well. But I can't remember if the clip was taken directly from the Pilot episode or not as it was 3 years ago.

What could and should have been an epic hour, culminating with the capture of Wo Fat is cheapened by how the writers decided to tell the story. There was nothing remotely innovative or unique by having a Day-Time Talk Show Host telling her studio audience (and us) what led to Wo Fat. It didn't help that the host was played by Aisha Tyler who has always irritated the f*ck out of me ever since her stint on Friends. But the story, it could have been great, but having her butting in all the time (along with her Camera Guy) just became annoying. A great chance is squandered. Sigh.

Talk about perfect timing. I don't think you could have paid to have everything line up the way it did this past week. What am I talking about? Well, this episode is about a kidnapped girl held in captivity for 10 years. Yes, her name was Amanda. Unfortunately, this story doesn't have a happy end for her. But there is another girl to take her place. Just eerie to watch this while the Amanda Berry case is so fresh in everyone mind. Henry Rollins and Mare Winningham guest star as the kidnappers.

Action packed with a lot of familiar faces joining in on the fun. Craig T. Nelson guest stars along with Treat Williams and David Keith as they look to pull off a heist that puts Steve and his mother in harms way. But it's the secondary story line involving Kono and her boyfriend that I find has the most potential for something to go seriously wrong, especially now that Adam knows she cloned his phone and has been keeping tabs on his whereabouts.

Interesting cliffhanger. Two of 'em to be exact. The first one has Kono going on the lam with Adam to hide out from those that will be looking for payback, having killed his own brother. So, is this really the last we will see of Kono? Is Grace Park leaving the series? Naw. My guess is that when Season 4 rolls around, 6 months will have transpired and most, if not all of the associates will have been put behind bars or in the ground, leaving an opening for Kono and Adam to return. The other cliffhanger and the one I'm mos anxious to see revealed is who is breaking into the Maximum Prison Cell to kill Wo Fat. Added bonus is having Steve stuck in the same room with him. Two enemies will now have to work together to get out of this alive.

Ho'onani Makuakane (Season 4 Episode 10)

I'm still watching this series, but I got swamped with so many other shows this year that I forgot to start a Season 4 thread here. Rather than start a new thread with half the season in the books, I'm just gonna post in the Season 3 thread regarding Ho'onani Makuakane episode.

Having just watched this episode, the first thing that came to mind was....Oh My God, what an epic story! This is hands down the absolute best episode in the entire run of Hawaii Five-O. It was amazing. Everything about it was just an incedible experience and one that's very rare in the land of TV. The re-enactment of the Pearl Harbor bombing was damn impressive that looked better than a lot of 'Big Budget' movies. The editing and the music was phenomenal. But it was the story at heart and more specifically the character of David Toriyama looking to solve a 70 year old murder that claimed the life of his father that truly sends this to rarefied levels of acting. James Saito was pitch perfect and did a fantastic job. Both the story and his acting made my eyes well up. I was touched. The back story involving Steve McGarrett's grandfather is the cherry on top of a mountain full of cherries. The ending was great. If you have never seen the series, you owe it to yourself to at least check out this particular episode. You won't regret it. 10 Stars out of 10.

FYI, I will be extremely p*ssed off if James Saito isn't nominated for his role as Toriyama. They should just give him the Emmy now!
