Solid season premiere. I really enjoyed seeing Rob Marrow return to TV as a suspected arsonist. He did a fantastic job. The ending was kind of cryptic or maybe not. Him staring at the stove, looking at the flame, tells me this isn't the last we will see of him. I miss his other show. Numb3rs should still be on the air. Bah!  Mageina Tovah (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/tv/the-finder-(season-1)/msg8412/#msg8412) guest stars as well. Also cool to see that the writers of the show didn't bury Mac's relationship. The show has a habit of doing that when they come back for a new season. Anyway, good episode.

Rob Marrow was awesome in this one, especially his monologue at the end. I would really like to see him get an Emmy Nomination for his role here. With him back in Prison, I don't think we will be seeing his character again, anytime soon. Looks like Natalie Martinez has joined the cast as Flack's new partner, playing Detective Lovato.

The title of the episode refers to the distance from NY to San Francisco and with the bulk of the episode taking place in SF with guest star Peter Horton, it came off like a backdoor Pilot for CSI: San Francisco. And at the end of the episode, it was alluded to that Jo (Sela Ward) may consider moving out to California to be with Cade (Peter Horton). So, it does seem like they are gearing up for another CSI series.

It took about 10 minutes into watching this episode before it dawned on me that not one character had spoken a word. I immediately thought that this was a pretty ballsy move on their part to tell an entire story with no dialog. Well, the first 30 minutes, the entire episode was told in montages with the use of music from Green Day. I thought it was really cool and I was actually disappointed when Mac broke the silence during the interrogation scene.

Even though they didn't take it all the way to the end without anyone speaking, this was still a fantastic episode about the domino effect. Every action has consquences and in this case, really bad ones. Great story and a great job in the songs selections by Green Day.

The Green Day songs used in Unspoken are: Stop When the Red Lights Flash, Amy, Night Life, The Forgotten and Kill the DJ.

A really good episode that is about coming to terms and rectifying the past. For Mac it's solving a case that has haunted him since he first became a cop, for Flack it's getting his sister to finally forgive her father and finally being at peace and helping Flack bury their father. The scene at Yankees stadium was good, especially the song they chose to close out the episode with. Zack Ward guest stars as the town bully wrongfully accused of killing a kid. He is best known for playing Farkus in A Christmas Story.

Here's the song that plays at the end of Misconceptions. Awesome song. I love the track record of CSI: NY finding and featuring gems like this.

Not necessarily the best case to be solved, but I did enjoy how it was being told, through Adam telling it to the two kids in the precinct.

Meh. Not one of their best episodes. I've never played CLUE, so I had no idea if I was missing connections to the game other than what they were telling us. Also, I think it was kind of a waste for Lindsey to hunting down the one that pranked her in the office.

Episode was just okay for me. The main case involving kids, drugs and studying for their SAT's bored me. I did like that they went a little outside the box by having Lindsay heading back to her childhood home to visit with her father while she was their to witness the execution of someone on DR. I just think they should have given the viewer knowledge of his crime sooner so we would know who and what happened. It took till the very end of the episode to get that information. Too little, too late.

Who wouldn't fall in love with Det. Jamie Lovato (Natalie Martinez)? Be it gang bangers or cops, everyone is in love with her....myself included.

The A Story involving the Speakeasy Bar was a complete waste and a bore. It was the B Story with Adam and his abusive father with Alzheimer disease that was both captivating and heartbreaking. I thought it was kinda odd that suddenly Adam had a girlfriend at the start of the episode. Up till now, they have never given him a personal life story line, other than a brief shot from a few years ago that he and Stella had slept together. But as soon as we are introduced to his father, it made sense why he suddenly had a girlfriend.  It's just too bad that half the episode was wasted on the lame bar murder.

A solid episode that ends with a bombshell. The bulk of the episode was around the idea that this kid created software that allows you to basically "print" a gun that can be used to fire real bullets. Of course, his invention ends up getting himself killed with the very gun he makes. That was Story A. Story B revolved around the mysterious person that gave away $1 Million each to 10 "random" people. Turns out that the 'Guardian Angel' is none other than Sid (Robert Joy). Turns out he gave away the money because those 10 people had family members that were connected to cases he had performed autopsies on. The bombshell is that he confides to Jo (Sela Ward) that he is dying of cancer. Very sad scene. I've always liked the character and the actor that portrays him. I like to see him saved and continue on with the show.

Civilized Lies
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_05star.gif)

This has been a great week for interrogations. First we get a barn burner on Person Of Interest (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/tv/person-of-interest-(season-2-2012)/msg15720/#msg15720) and now we get one here. Civilized Lies could also be called 'How to con your way into a confession'. This was a fantastic episode and probably my fave this season from CSI: NY. The confrontation between the two perps at the end in the cell was a great payoff for sure. Chained to a bench and all you can do is stare at the man that gave you up and not a damn thing you can do about it. Hahaha. Sucka!!

I like solving cases on shows like this and CSI. But I have noticed that lately, it's just not something I'm drawn to anymore. I rather see the smaller stories of certain characters outside of work. I find these to be far more fascinating and deeper because they usually involve some serious emotional hook. In this episode, a small portion was devoted to Jo, who gets a mysterious visit from a man she's never met before. Turns out that he had a heart transplant and it was Jo's sister's heart. So, you can imagine the emotion involved in this one. Also, I like the other small story involving Lindsay and her pregnancy announcement and everyone placing bets....an office pool.

FYI, the main story involving the case was boring as hell, and I couldn't have cared less about it. Had it been a case worth solving, this episode would have gotten a perfect score.

Meh. I wasn't expecting much, but they wrapped this up way too easily and there was no tension whatsoever at all. It was just average. But I don't understand why they had DB (Ted Danson) on this episode. He didn't do anything. All they had him do was stand around or follow Mac Taylor. Dropped the ball on this one and if this is how the writers are going to do crossovers in the future, they should just quit.

Blood Actually
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_04star.gif)

The most interesting things about Blood Actually was not the cases, but the things going on with the cast. So now it's starting to happen with Sid. His illness cause him to miss a small detail during examination of a victim. It was small and forgotten about immediately by Mac. But we know that he will start to make more and more mistakes which will obviously force Sid to come clean about what is happening to him.

I liked the last 5 minutes of the episode where everyone was doing their own little Valentine's Day thing with their significant other. Bonus points for having Josh Groban singing to add the soundtrack to punctuate all of their scenes.

Good episode but entirely predictable. During the foot chase at the start, I knew that an innocent bystander would get shot, which sets off a chain reaction of sorts. The only surprise was the ending when Mac finally popped the question to his girl, which was nice. Took him long enough after all she's done for him.

This isn't a surprise for me at all. Been expecting it all season long. I'm actually surprised that it finished out the entire season before getting Axed.
