Another film penned by John Hughes. Even though Some Kind Of Wonderful doesn't reach the level of The Breakfast Club (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-breakfast-club-(1985)/msg1896/#msg1896) or Sixteen Candles (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/sixteen-candles-(1984)/msg1885/#msg1885), it's still a great movie that once again explores class warefare within the High School setting when two opposites decide to go out on a date. If you have ever seen Pretty In Pink (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/pretty-in-pink-(1986)/msg2001/#msg2001), then you will know that this is the exact same plot, but just the gender roles have been reversed and we are seeing through the eyes of the Male perspective of Keith (Eric Stoltz) who courts Amanda (Lea Thompson). Eric is definitely the headliner in the movie with Lea the object of desire, but it's Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson) that everyone remembers most from the movie. At least that's how I feel. Mary is the best thing going here as she tries to cope with unrequited love that she has for a clueless Keith. I thought here performance was nothing short of brilliant because of the way she plays it makes it so relatable.

I'm a John Hughes deciple, so naturally I own pretty much every film that his name is attached to. So, of course I am going to recommend this as a Buy.
