50/50 is every bit as good as you have heard it to be. It's both funny and poignant at the same time as Adam Lerner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) comes to terms with the fact that he has cancer, with help along with his best friend Kyle (Seth Rogen). I wasn't sure that I'd ever watch this movie because subject matter involved. Anyway....

...there were some standout performances by pretty much everyone in the cast. Levitt was  phenomenal in projecting a huge range of emotions in how he is coping with this life altering news. And who would ever have guessed that Rogen could turn in a very touching performance as he tries his best to deal with the situation at hand. For most of the movie I was asking myself why Adam would stick with this guy, especially when he was being extremely selfish. But the writing is brilliant and the way that they reveal to the audience what he too is going through and just how much he values his friendship with Adam ......was brilliant. I'm a big fan of Anna Kendrick and she did a great job as Katherine , Adam's therapist.

Even though this is a great movie, I'm not sure I'd ever buy it, let alone watch it enough times to justify owning the DVD. But this is definitely a Rent for sure. But if there is one thing for sure that I'd buy, it's the soundtrack. Simply amazing, one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a long time. Both song selections as well as the musical score is one for the books.

Like you, held off, because of the subject. Turns out, all involved turned out a well made flick. I might watch it again. Wouldn't own it though.
