Underworld visually is a very stylish film that takes its cues from Blade and The Matrix (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-matrix-(1999)/msg8259/#msg8259) using the Romeo and Juliet template when a Vampire falls for a Lycan. The story isn't all that original, but Len Wiseman gives you enough eye candy to look past the slim plot that the entire movie is based on. The movie begins and ends with Kate Beckinsale as Selene who elevates the S&M wardrobe to a whole other level. This is on par with Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in Batman Returns (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/batman-returns-(1992)/msg10987/#msg10987).

Like I said, I like the movie, but it's not perfect. There are some really slow spots in the film that gets weighed down by to much exposition and a couple of bland characters to top it off. But the movie does offer some good fight scenes and a lot of impressive special FX, with the best FX being Kate in leather. (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/HTL_drool.gif) I own the 2 Disc Unrated Extended Cut on DVD, but I wouldn't say this is a must-own movie, but definitely worth a Rent for sure.
