This took over 2 years to make, over 2,400 frames. Some days they were lucky enough to get 2 shots in 1 day. Yikes. That's dedication.

Amazing smile from a beautiful woman... and to keep a great attitude about the whole process.

Labor of love is understatement. I have this deep respect for stop motion work and these guys look like they put in hours of back breaking work. Leaning over into and on that box did not look easy.

As great as the video is, I think the video makes more sense at Hottest Music Videos Of All Time (NSFW) (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/hottest-music-video-of-all-time!!/)

Very imaginative

Eytan and The Embassy - Everything Changes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMwyun2KUI8

Quote
If you're craving a new music video from David Bowie or Bob Dylan or Elvis Presley or Kurt Cobain -- or all of them together and then some -- you'll want to check out this offering from Eytan and the Embassy.

The Brooklyn-based band's video for "Everything Changes" literally does just that with 18 costume changes in one unedited take.

According to Record Setter, it took the band and crew a full day of rehearsal and 30 takes the next day to successfully capture the final video.

As the lyrics of the song say, "If you're tired of being yourself, go on and be somebody else."
Advertise | AdChoices

Over the course of the four-minute video, wigs and glasses and shirts and jackets go on and off lead singer Eytan Oren. We tried our best to identify each of the iconic rockers portrayed. There's Buddy Holly? John Lennon (or is that Liam Gallagher?!) Jim Morrison! Bob Dylan! Someone in a white tux? Elton John! Elvis Presley! David Bowie! Billy Idol ... as Wendy O. Williams? Bruce Springsteen! A blonde we can't peg -- David Lee Roth? Stevie Nicks? Then there's Prince! Kurt Cobain! Billy Joe Armstrong! Weird Al! The Beastie Boys! Lady Gaga! And finally, Deadmau5 and his signature "mouse" head.

The band has also uploaded a cool look behind the scenes of the making of the video. "The idea was to try to pull off something that was pretty close to impossible so that it would be pretty fun to watch," Oren says.

Mission accomplished.

That was awesome! I think my personal favorite was Weird All. I thought it was a nice touch having a Courtney Love look-alike in the background when Kurt Cobain was on screen.

Dream Music: Part 2

http://vimeo.com/47793390

Quote
Why Watch? Holy. Hell.  It took 6 months and 2 states for Marc Donahue and Michael Williams to create this epic piece of stop-motion mastery called Dream Music: Part 2. The sheer amount of labor (up to 8 hours for each 3-4 seconds of film) is astounding, but what sets it over the top is the attention to detail and the visual connectivity they manage (from bits of nature found in urban areas flowing out of forests to snowboarding on train tracks). Not to mention the overt and subtle nods to the lyrics that push the piece forward.

I just think they wanted to give some face time to long forgotten rock gods from the 80's, thus the reason for the gratuitous 80's Vixen to drive home the fact that this is all about the 80's.

Watch the original and the sequel.... pretty cool concept.

Quote
Make a music video for a song called "Bad Motherf**ker" and you're just setting expectations high. Thankfully the mad Russians behind this video for the band Biting Elbows exceed those expectations.

Like parkour? Like your action movies violent and fast-paced? Like a first-person perspective? This video checks all three boxes, and even a few surprise ones at the end. The acting might be a little stiff, but the stunt work isn't -- not in the slightest. "Bad Motherf**ker" is packed with insane stunt work. Sure, the blood may be digital, but the roof-running, building-scaling, car-jumping feats are all real, and they're all awesome.

These FPS videos are a bit of a trend these days, so how long do you think it'll be before Hollywood takes notice and puts an extended sequence like this in a movie? A few have already tried (Doom being the most notable), but if these amateurs* can pull it off, imagine what could be done with a bit more money both in front of and behind the camera.

New Kids On The Block - Remix (I Like The)

Holy crap. Never in a million years did I ever think I'd say these words: "That song by NKOTB is f*cking awesome". Yikes! What is the world coming to? Admit it, Remix (I Like The) is a great f*cking song. Great verse, great chorus, insanely catchy and a great dance track, one that I could see myself grooving to in a club. Too bad this didn't come out years ago when I was still doing the Nite Club scene. If the rest of the album is as good as this song, I would seriously consider getting it.

Justin Timberlake - TKO

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyXtoTLLcDk

I love this film. That's right, I said 'film' and not music video. There was a lot of thought going into this one, which has a very simplisitic plot, but with great execution with the camera. It's all about reveals, whether it's camera dolly's or tracking, as well as story structure. The narrative is misleading. Be sure to stick around to the very end to get your answer as to what's really happening. Also, it doesn't hurt that the song has a great groove.

Eminem - The Monster (Explicit) ft. Rihanna

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHkozMIXZ8w

This isn't the first time that Eminem has done a genre defying mash-up. Stan obviously comes to mind with Dido as the guest vocals. When I first heard about this mash-up with Rihanna, I really didn't think it would gel. Imagine my surprise that not only does it gel, it actually exceeds a lot of other mash-ups pitting two different styles into the same song. I like how they did reenactments of very well-known Eminem moments and making it look seamless with the original content and footage.

I really didn't know where to put this. It's more of 'interesting' video than anything techie or human condition or what?

This one is for Mac. Not the greatest song, but I like the idea behind the video as they pay homage to the most iconic Slasher characters in cinema history.

Another awesome video by OK Go

I Won't Let You Down

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1ZB_rGFyeU

Quote
The band's creative videos have made use of treadmills, dominoes and optical illusions. In its latest, "I Won't Let You Go," the foursome takes to the road -- and the sky -- thanks to camera-toting drones and some Segway-like Honda vehicles called UNI-CUBs.

The video is nearing 3 million views on YouTube.

Part of the idea came from a visit to Tokyo's Robot Restaurant, kind of a Medieval Times with robots. ("Girls in bikinis battle enormous Transformer-style robots, helped by Daft Punk-style storm troopers on Tron motorcycles," went the description of a TripAdvisor reviewer.)

It was the best hour of my life," OK Go's Tim Nordwind told Billboard.

The band worked with Japanese director Morihiro Harano to design the 5-minute-plus clip, which begins with the group on UNI-CUBs doing some leg moves and then rises high over a building lot while the band joined by several -- and then dozens -- of umbrella-toting Japanese schoolgirls. (A choreographer named Airman handled the moves; Honda supplied the UNI-CUBs and some backing.)

Eventually the proceedings moved to a warehouse for the conclusion, a colorful display -- like a stadium flip-card maneuver -- that includes pictures of the band members and a "ribbon" showing the title of the song.

The last part took more than 50 tries and was shot at half-speed and then speeded up, the band members told Billboard. By this point, the drone camera was a half-mile up.

It's all part of a philosophy that tries to entertain as much as awe, OK Go's Damian Kulash told CNN in 2010.

"We make cool stuff," he said. "We just think they're fun."

Next up: a trip on Virgin Galactic?

Ok Go are the masters of their domain! Not that "domain", the music video domain that is. If you have been following their career long, you will see a common thread through most and that is one long, single take shot from start to finish. No cuts. No edits. But this one really made me doubt if it was shot in a practical way, especially the final shot that literally has the camera higher than any crane could possible reach. I had to read to find out that they used a drone to make it work. Color me impressed once again.

I like it...

Neat video turns juggler into human black hole

Quote
This woman totally seems like she has harnessed the power of a black hole and can suck up all the light and everything around her. But it's just a nice little camera trick showing swinging burning steel wool in reverse. The light flies to her as she twists and turn but in reality, it's just being flung away. Still nice though!

The video, called Ignition Sequences, was made by Richard Johnson as a promo spot for Cascade Juggling. Don't worry, it was safe. He explains:

All necessary safety precautions where taken to prevent the risk of a fire. We only shot after heavy rain (Cumbria gets alot of rain) and had a team of people standing by off camera. The steel wool we used burns out really quickly which made the risk of a fire extremely minimal.

Okay, I'm currently down the Youtube music video rabbit hole and came across this video, Britny Fox's "Girlschool."

While not a GREAT video, I immediately recognized it as the basis of an actual great video, Spinal Tap's B*tch School:

Since we were just talking Spinal Tap recently, seemed like the perfect time to share.  And amazingly enough, this led to a Spinal Tap video I've NEVER seen before: "Royalty Of Rock."

This music video for Tide: The Paradox Effect—a new song by R&B singer Dawn Richard—shows a female warrior fighting her way towards the sun in a strange world full of destruction and mayhem. The video was made by directing duo We Were Monkeys.

This may be the funkiest group of senior citizens around.

Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” was already a hit, and now a cover of the song is going viral.

Singer Alex Boye tweaked the lyrics a bit to swap a reference about liquor to Kool-Aid, but it’s the music video that’s really spectacular.

Watch the "Oldtown Cover" here:

Featuring performers between the ages of 65 and 92, “All the grandmas and Grandpas in the video did their own stunts,” reads the YouTube video’s description.

Silversun Pickups - Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVHkeQNmMvM&list=WL&index=14

I like that a modern day song got the old school video treatment. What we get here is something akin to what videos looked like in the first couple of years on MTV. Low budget with a hint of "story" that makes no sense. Now I don't know if this is intentional with Silversun, but this is how I'm seeing the video through my own POV. FYI, cool song.
