This very niche thread is for those songs that open in a very unusual way or even a great way.
Meadows (Joe Walsh screaming)
The story behind the screaming is Joe has always been a jokester (see Joe Walsh for President). Before this song, he was asking the band members to join him some weird yelling or screaming. They apparently nodded in agreement, but wound up silent with Joe doing his solo thing.

Down On The Farm - Little Feat
When I first head this I laughed my ass off. Goofiness before a great song.

Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of The New Day - Jethro Tull
Just someone pouring themselves a drink. Yet another unusual bit before a great song.

Fire On High - ELO
By far one of my favorite ELO songs. Just some odd pre-song mix.

Beatles - I Feel Fine
One of the greatest opening notes evah!!!! It doesn't get any more iconic than naming that tune in one note

I like the idea of this thread. I will run through some songs in my head and see which one(s) fits here.

KISS - Detroit Rock City / King Of The Night Time World (Studio Version)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODgdTqAFV0c
The first song that immediately came to mind was the original version of Detroit Rock City off the Destroyer (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/kiss-(the-original-lineup)-discography/msg1585/#msg1585) album. Listen to the entire song because the ending ties back into the beginning. Ironically enough, the ending of Detroit Rock City actually becomes the beginning of the song that follows: King Of The Night Time World. I couldn't find a clip that was just the first two songs, so I went ahead and posted the entire album. To check out. The last track, following Do You Love Me has a crowd cheering non-stop for what seems like 10 minutes, which I loved. It's not really 10 minutes, it just feels like it is.

Wow, that was dark. I take it was the before and during car accident?

Gene Simmons - Radioactive
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FImNlLKn__w
Love, love, looooooooove the opening. It has absolutely nothing to do with the song and yet it makes perfect sense!! Radioactive comes off his Solo (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/kiss-(the-original-lineup)-discography/msg1604/#msg1604) album as the opening track.
-
Ka-oooooool. Nice one. I'd never heard that before.

Guns N' Roses - Civil War
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1fHxPY3TJo
I'm surprised that you didn't think of Civil War (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/guns-n'-roses-discography/msg4774/#msg4774) before me!!
-
Van halen - Poundcake
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFf3Nmd2ZQw
....or Poundcake (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/van-halen-discography-(the-sammy-hagar-years)/msg2247/#msg2247) before me!! Paul Gilbert plays an electric drill with picks attached to the drill bit, but Eddie used the drill for sound fx purposes.

Aerosmith - Love In An Elevator
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3Yrhv33Zb8
Many people think that the opening is attributed to the video when in fact, it's on the studio version and they had to incorporate it INTO the video.

Joe Satriani - Flying In A Blue Dream
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SINl5JY7LhI
I love that Satch and the producer decided to use the take where his wireless mic was picking up audio from a nearby radio station. You can hear the kids talking at the beginning on Flying In A Blue Dream (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/joe-satriani-discography/msg1520/#msg1520)

Steve Vai - The Audience Is Listening
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S35URl6GJZE
Steve actually sought out his school teacher to record her parts for the song.
