Alanis Morissette - Everything
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6kLbDHu0yc&ob=av2e
This one has been stuck in my ear for the past 2 days and shows no sign of leaving anytime soon. The good thing is that I have always liked this song and won't object to another day or so of more mind repetition. ;D

Stryper - Free
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8zSulQIroI&feature=channel_video_title
Talking to my buddy last night, he was asking me about Stryper and what I thought of them. Told them they had a few choice songs back in the day, the best being Free. So, of course this song has been stuck in my head since then. Michael Sweet has a great voice and the very rare ability to shred better than a lot of gun slingers out there. Just listen to him rip on the solo.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - If I Should Fall Behind
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1wg9jyvfN0
It has been a week since watching CSI: NY and this song has been playing over and over in my ear non-stop. This is such a powerful song that I think it will do the same for anyone else that hears it once or for the 1,000th time. Watching the video, I got choked up waiting for Clemons to make his appearance. RIP dude.
You can head over and see the original scene Indelible - Final Scene (Bruce Springsteen - If I Should Fall Behind) (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/tv/csi-ny-(season-8)/msg2236/#msg2236). Don't wait too long to check it out, I can guarantee you it will be taken down by the powers that be.

Body Count - The Gears Of War
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcREw7iiegI
Every since completing Gears Of War 3 last week, the closing song by Body Count that plays out through the credit roll has been stuck in my ear. For those that don't know who Body Count is, it's Ice-T's thrash metal band. He also lends his voice to the Griffin character in the game as well.
-
Frida - I Know There's Something Going On
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uz5DkTF2RW8
What's funny is that when this video/song first came out I had no idea it was the chick from ABBA. How would I know? I never listened to or followed them. So when I found out, you could imagine my shock. Really? ABBA? This is the only thing I like that is in any way related to the aforementioned group. Love the drums and the melody that plays throughout the song and the vocals and lyrics are pretty cool too, thus the Earworm.
-
Did you know that is Phil Collins on the drum track?
He was super hot at this time and I imagine it was his connection that got this track popular. His signature sound was everywhere. I'll give credit to Frida's singing and song writing too. It was a bold departure from Abba. But I think Collins influence really bolted this to the top.
-
Did you know that is Phil Collins on the drum track?
Not immediately. It took awhile for me to actually make the connection, even though I was very familiar with his signature sound at the time.

I listened to this a couple of times last night and then WHAMMO, it get's stuck in my head all day today. So, I'm gonna play it some more now. If you can't beat 'em...join 'em. Just a shame that the writers phucked up the TV show. Bah!!!!!

Either a musical creation that is epic or just messed up. You decide. But all day yesterday and today I've had both Rose's Theme by James Horner from Titanic and Dream On by Helix playing in my head on top of each other. It's chaotic....but awesome....but phucked up.

I haven't listened to this song in years. Maybe 5 years if not longer. Was reading an article and 4 Non Blonds name came up which always makes me think of Concrete Blond which makes me think of this song, which has been stuck in my ear all day. Just now getting to play the song again and it's awesome as it always is.

Olivia Newton John - Twist of fate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2hawbp5XT4
I watched the video last week, which I hadn't seen in a long time. Now all of the sudden the song itself just popped into my head this morning and has been running on a loop in my head since then. I like the song and can listen to it every once in a while, but not over and over in my head. Gah!!!!
-
The Alan Parsons Project - Eye In The Sky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNiie_zmSr8
Crazy, but this morning out of nowhere this song popped into my head and it's been there ever since. Why did I just start singing the melody by chance? Who knows. I haven't listened to the song in well over 10 years and yet......there it was. Crazy indeed.

Dan Hartman - I Can Dream About You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=621Nk3Ubz4A
So yesterday, out of nowhere this song popped into my head and I started humming along. I decided to pull up the video and wouldn't you know it.....there is a second version / video of the song. I had no idea this particular video even existed till now. The only one I had known and seen on MTV and over the years was the one spliced with all the footage from the movie Streets Of Fire. Crazy, but it only took me 28 years to find this out. Bah!!

Heart - Will You Be There (In The Morning)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fvYcRdhuBE
I started talking about Heart yesterday in That Metal Show (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/that-metal-show-(season-11)/msg12192/#msg12192) and since then I have been playing this one over and over in my head as well as on my Sound System. It happens all the time and I'm cool with that.
-
In Aruba, I heard in some form or another The Beach Boys Kokomo everyday, most likely because of the line 'Aruba, Jamaica, C'mon I wana take ya'
Since I've been back home, it's playing in my head.
The funny thing is I'm mashing it up Bob & Toms version 'Camel Toe'.
Don't care, it all feels good.
-
Hahahahaha.

INXS - We Are Thrown Together
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlZbGZF37Lk
I went for a walk this morning at 6 am and out of nowhere this song popped into my head. Why? I have no idea. It was just.....there. It's been there ever since. It's crazy how a song can just magically manifest itself with any kind of provocation. I haven't listened to the song since doing my review for Elegantly Wasted (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/inxs-discography/msg7771/#msg7771). Sheesh! Has it really been 7 months since then?

P!nk - The Truth About Love (Official Lyric Video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMwm2xwoQjg
Having listened to P!nk's latest album The Truth About Love (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/p!nk-discography/msg13559/#msg13559) a lot this week, it's no wonder that I literally woke up this morning with the Title track playing in my head. I actually think I was asleep when the song began playing and it's what woke me up. Needless to say that I've had the song playing on a loop the last hour as I work this morning. Suck on that OCD people!!
-
Heard this in passing somewhere and can't get it out of my head... even the multi-lingual version.

Arrggh! I was having a conversation with Boyinblack about Wang bars and this dame song popped into my head and now I can't get it out. Damn you!!
-
hey you did that to yourself.
what's funny is when I was driving home from LA a few weeks back...that song came on in the radio...or Safety Dance and I remember thinking..."this isn't so bad!!"
:)
-
Well, you do rock the Safety Dance for sure. I mean the actual dance itself.
-
not sure
;)
.....I can appreciate 80's music a lot more lately...it's kind of fun to listen to in small doses and the right songs...
:)
-
what's funny is when I was driving home from LA a few weeks back...that song came on in the radio...or Safety Dance and I remember thinking..."this isn't so bad!!"
It happens...
I had a similar experience years ago driving home from Seattle. Some local station was playing classic Disco. I gotta tell you, up to that point I considered Disco, the Devils music. Hated it. Nothing to do with something that flew in the face of great rock music.
Well, the stars aligned, I was alone and I just cranked it up. Huh, Disco is not that bad. ;D
-
Avril Lavigne - I'm With You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGR65RWwzg8
While listening to this (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/what-are-you-listening-to-right-now/msg19006/#msg19006) yesterday, one of the songs that they mixed into my P!nk Channel was Avril Lavigne's I'm With You. Loved the song when it first came out. That was 11 years ago! Good Gawd, this song can't be THAT old!!! Anyway, the song has been playing non-stop in my head all day today. It's still a great song. Love the video too.
-
I don't have anything in particular in my head....I don't know the song you mentioned.....will check it out later...watching celebrity apprentice.
-
There is no way in hell you've never NOT heard the song. It had massive airplay on MTV and the Radio when it came out. Trust me, you would have stumbled across this by accident because of the amount of exposure it got.
-
We'll see.
:)
-
Challenge! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
-
gonna pop it on right now.
I like her music....so I would think I've heard this./ I didn't recognize the title or the video still
will come back in a sec and see what happens!
-
I've always dug her style. I don't think she gets a lot of respect as an artist because of the whole 'Skater Girl' personae that defined her early career. But the girl can sing. She's got great range and doesn't overdo it like some singers.
-
I didn't and don't know the song (the end kind of sounded familiar....but barely)........I am surprised I didn't see a thousand girls on idol auditioning to it back 10 years ago....maybe I did, and they butchered it beyond recognition!
-
I can't recall anyone using an Avril song, this one or others during Idol. They all seem to want to do Christina just so that they can 'run the scales' like she does. You know what I mean. OoooooooOOOOOOOooooooooOOOoooOOOOoooOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaAAAAHHHH!
Ugh.
-
she's had a few songs I like a lot....not just saying that. I really thought she had and has a ton of talent and potential.
-
Nelly Furtado - Say It Right
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JnGBs88sL0
Love the song, the vibe and the arrangement of Say It Right and never turn it off when it comes on. But this is a song that I haven't heard anywhere in quite some time and even longer since the last time I listened to her album from which the song resides. So I found it kind of odd that the song manifested yesterday in my mind and just played there all day. So, that led me to searching online to find out a little bit more about....

Where Do “Earworms” Come From? (http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/why-music-moves-us/201202/where-do-earworms-come)

So the goofy station I listen to all the time introduced Chimpanzee ridin' on a Segway sometime back.

Ah, Nostalgia: The Ultimate Song of the Summer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw7YqGoF4Qk
A lot of these songs are Earworms for obvious reasons, but was why wasn't Poison - Nothing But A Good Time not mentioned? To me that's THE Ultimate Summer Song.
-
I bought years ago a (Razor & Tie) collection of Summer Songs. 2 CD's. I play it every summer. A lot of those songs are on there.
I think a 'Summer Song' has a lot to do with what you were doing when the songs played. Thus the nostalgia. And the more I think about it, nostalgia is very important part of feeling good.
-
For me, there are 3 definitive Summer songs (not counting Poison). When it comes to taking me back to THAT moment in time, the winner is hands down Heart - What About Love, Y&T - Summertime Girls and Faster P u s s y c a t - House of Pain. Whenever I hear these songs play, INSTANT time warp back to those Summers. I'm talking about mood, emotion, weather, sights, sounds and smells. It's like it was yesterday.
-
I have a "Summer" playlist on my iPod but I couldn't tell you what the heck is on there because I haven't listened to it in forever (along with, I'll be honest, my playlists for any other holiday).
-
Katy Perry - Roar
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CevxZvSJLk8
Roar has been playing in my head for the past few days. I actually like the song. It has the qualities of an anthem, one that makes you want to sing along.
-
A Flock Of Seagulls - I Ran
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIpfWORQWhU
So, with GTA V on the verge of being launched this week (tonight at Midnight), earlier this week I decided to watch Game Reviews of the previous editions into the franchise and one of them of course was GTA Vice City, a personal favorite of mine. Beside the game play, the biggest thing Vice City had going for it was the 80's soundtrack. When you drive around, you have a handful of radio stations you can change to one of the songs that became synonymous with the game was A Flock Of Seagulls - I Ran. I can't not think of the game when I hear the song and vice versa. Well, in one of the Vice City reviews.....actually about 4 different reviews to be precise had the song playing in the background. Needless to say, the song is stuck. It's been stuck for a few days now and I can't get it out. It's driving me to the point of insanity. Arrrrggggh!!!!!!!!
-
Well R. P. McMurphy, are we just steps away from a straight jacket?

Bruno Mars - Gorilla (Live MTV VMA 2013)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhaKmW8dhgg
Love the studio version of the song, but it's this particular VMA performance that has been stuck in my head for awhile. Even Will Smith is grooving to this one too.

Apple iPhone 5S - New Commercial - Gigantic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yVAQHs2zIM
Normally I would post this in Mac's Commercial Thread. But THIS belongs here because the lyric 'Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic' has literally been playing over and over in my head for the past 3 weeks. NONSTOP!!!!! I hated it at first, second and third. But now....it has grown on me. What the hell! Now all together.....Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic!!!! ;D

"Closer" by Tegan and Sara
I'm sure I've heard their music before, I've certainly heard of the duo before, but oh man, this song just stuck in my head all day, and the video is so perfect for the feel of it: kinda 80s but kinda not, kinda clubby but kinda not. And it's so freakin' catchy. I love this kind of song.
-
I've heard of them, but never the song. Maybe I have and it's just not registering at the moment.
-
Barenaked Ladies - The Old Apartment
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ggJS0p-QQc
This one has been playing in my head for the last couple of days. Hell, I even woke up this morning with this playing in my ear. Love the song. It's still my favorite BNL song. Video is great too.
-
Both of those songs you brought up are not bad. I've never heard them, and they sounded good.
I've had a minor earworm with one of the band songs lately.
Alice In Chains - Man in the Box
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAqZb52sgpU
our singer does a great job of nailing this.
Fun song to play.
-
Tears For Fears - Woman In Chains ft. Oleta Adams
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzkK3ZtI9SU&list=UUUeZg9WbtcvcfMzEbxIA5Cw
GOD I love this song! I'm kind of surprised that this hasn't been stuck in my head non stop for the last 20 years. Anyway, I was watching an instructional video the other day on the bass parts for the entire song, and surprisingly, the parts hardly ever repeat themselves. There is always a variation on top of the last part and yet it's very simplistic in execution. I still consider this to be one of their greatest songs ever.
-
One of my all time favorite songs... Evah!
-
Lee Coulter - Boss Señorita (ft. Rob Deez) - Starring Danyelle Wolf
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CR5WQRtUw6g&list=PLp2e7UfInEgmB-5r4rtQOEsq-H-mNmQhk&index=16
This song has been stuck in my head the past 4 days and I'm A-Ok with that. Dig the tune and the video. I feel like writing a script around the song itself.
-
Soronprfbs - "I Love You All"
I just got finished watching The Colbert Report with Michael Fassbender hyping his new movie Frank. What I didn't know was that Michael and Maggie Gyllenhaal were / are musicians in the movie and real life. As for the song, I actually like it a lot. It's got a great groove. It sounds great and visually it looks fun seeing a Papier-mâché head on Fassbender as he sings. The song is stuck in my head now......
-
Lee Coulter - Boss Señorita (ft. Rob Deez) - Starring Danyelle Wolf
Love it. Absolutely love it.
Reminds me of similar stuff from Django Unchained Soundtrack
Thanks for this one. The Horns were an awesome surprise.

Toto - Africa
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTQbiNvZqaY
Because of this (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/chuck-(season-2-2008)/msg31051/#msg31051), the song Africa has been playing non-stop in my head since watching the episode in question. I actually keep bouncing back between Jeffster and Toto.
-
When I was in high school, I went to my best friend's house and his dad had all these gold records on his wall. I asked "what's this for?" My friend answered "oh, my dad was in this band called Toto and wrote 'Africa.'" So now I can't hear that song without remembering that moment.
Here's what's stuck in my head: Talk To Ya Later by The Tubes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PpeAesQCZ8
-
Who's his dad?
On a personal note, I've met Steve Lukather a couple of times. Very cool dude.
-
Talk To You Later is definitely an ear-worm. All you had to do was type in those 4 words and it's already stuck in my head. ;D
-
His dad was David Hungate. There were a bunch of records around the house, so ubiquitous you don't even really notice at first.
-
Phil Collins - I Don't Care Anymore
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6KMYms8is0
I've been playing a lot of GTA V Online recently and I mean A LOT!!!!! One of the songs and one of my personal faves back when it came out has been this one. When it comes on the radio while I'm driving around Los Santos, I crank this motherf*cker up! Anyway, this one has been in my head all day today.

Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock - It Takes Two
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phOW-CZJWT0&index=57&list=PLp2e7UfInEgmB-5r4rtQOEsq-H-mNmQhk
For me, It Takes 2 is absolutely the greatest Hip Hop song of all time. The fact that I still enjoy listening to this song 26 years later blows my mind. But what blows my mind even more is that I just NOW noticed that Biz Markie (before he became famous to the general population) was in the video. I never noticed it until this morning while watching said music video. This is one of those timeless songs that just keeps getting better and better with age. It brings back a lot of memories whenever the song comes on the radio or wherever. The song has been stuck in my head for the past couple of days. I may be a metal / hard rock dude through and through...but I did have my night club / rave dancing days and this song was at the top of the list of must-play songs.

Frehley's Comet - It's Over Now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7amCZ55d0cM
This has been in my head for the past week. I love the song, but it's a double edge sword. This is one of the rare songs that plays over and over in my head for at least a month after just one spin. Because of that, I actually try to stay away from the song at all cost because once it's the ear, it's nearly impossible to get rid of. The entire song is building up to the EPIC guitar solo and once the solo is over, the solo ends up playing in your head until the song fades out. You've been warned. Play at your own risk........
-
I found this interesting...
Fascinating break down explains why Taylor Swift songs are so catchy
If you existed in the year 2014, you have probably either cringed or sang along or cringed while singing along to Taylor Swift's oppressively catchy song Shake It Off. Just why the hell is it so catchy ? Well, for one it's pop. But also as Chilly Gonzales explains, it's the same principles that has made other tunes annoyingly memorable.
I especially enjoy the cinematic look for a video that's posted on YouTube explaining the music theory behind a pop song that 4-year-olds can sing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deiYfCedCKI
-
I posted this in another thread... and followed the rabbit hole down and watched some of the dude's concerts, they're awesome.
-
Sia - Chandelier

This song has been stuck in my ear for the past week. Sia has a great voice and I think the choreography in the video is awesome too.

Man, I have a bunch of earworms stuck in my head. All because of an audition. The thing about it is, I have never heard some of these songs before, but because I played them over and over, they are now stuck in my head.
Old Man by N’Dea Davenport

I'm really digging this upbeat rock version of "Feel Good Inc" by Gorillaz (the original's ten years old, can you believe it?)

AC/DC - Rock The Blues Away

Rock The Blues Away is clearly my favorite track on Rock or Bust. Really digging the entire album for sure. Will do a proper review of it all. But Blues has definitely been stuck in my head for the past 48 hours.

Dayum, this tune is just burning in my brain the last few days...

Elton John - Empty Garden

I've loved this song since it first came out and it has always been one of my fave EJ songs. What's kind of odd is that this has been part of my Bass Set List in Rocksmith for a while now, but for whatever reason, it's suddenly an earworm , playing over and over in my head for the past few days. It's only going to get worse because I really enjoy playing this on Bass all the time. So, if I wanted to get the song out of my head, I'm still compelled to keep playing this. Ack!!!!

Jessie Ware - Wildest Moments

I just re-discovered this song and video by chance. The first and only time I've ever heard the song was channel surfing and came across it maybe 2-3 years ago. It wasn't until I watched the Series Finale to Grandfathered that I sought it out again. Been stuck in my head the past few days.

72 Hour Rewind Featuring Jon Bon Jovi Commercial 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_ufQObu9-c
I hated this when it first came out. But dammit, they play the sh*t out of this all the time and now I expect and depend on it popping up daily. This has been stuck in my head for the past week and today has only gotten worse. Arrrgggghh!!!
-
Have not seen that one... Yet.
I seriously did not let it register in my head, that was Bon Jovi when the commercials first appeared. They are incredibly cheesy. Bon Jovi's trying to pay some bills?
-
This is the 2nd commercial of his which came out last month or so and I have been scratching my head why he is going down this road. My guess is that Bon Jovi the band just isn't marketable anymore ever since Richie Sambora quit.

Gahhh... I had to go geeky on you guys...
Why can't you get that song out of your head?
In 2009, Lady Gaga sang about being caught in a bad romance, and people the world over were, almost instantly, able to sing along.
Even now, seven years later, the odds are pretty good that her love woes are already playing on loop in your mind, based solely on the fact that you just read something about it.
"Rah-rah ah-ah-ah." Just in case you weren't there yet.
"Bad Romance" and many songs like it are well-known to musical experts as "earworms," due to their ability to stick inside your brain, on repeat, long after you've heard them. But a new study, published Thursday in the journal Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity and the Arts, now has some insight into why this happens.
"We were interested because it's such a common phenomenon. ... People say certain songs are more catchy than others, but there wasn't a lot of scientific evidence on (this) topic," said Kelly Jakubowski, a music psychologist at Durham University in the UK who herself gets earworms all the time
It's estimated that 90% of us experience an earworm at least once a week, with some having them even more frequently than others. Jakubowski's team identified three main reasons why they occur, and it comes down to pace, the shape of the melody and a few unique intervals that make a song stand out.
"These three factors stood out above the rest ... (the songs) need to be not too simple and not too complex," Jakubowski said. "None of these have been revealed in previous research."
Making simple yet complex music
As for pace, the earworms highlighted in the study were faster and more upbeat in tempo and generally had a rhythm that people could move to. "We have a propensity to move to earworms," Jakubowski said, citing songs that people may use to pace themselves during a run.
Next on the list was musical shape or contour, with earworms generally being simple in structure, but with a rhythmic pattern. Sounds may rise in pitch, go back down low and then rise again as a pattern, such as "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." Many nursery rhymes fit this pattern to help children remember them -- so their creators knew what they were doing.
"The quite simple melodic contour might help the brain to recall these things," said Jakubowski.
Last was the need for some unusual intervals within the song, just enough to add some catchy surprises while maintaining a simple, uniform pattern overall. "Although the overall melody has a simple shape, you'll find some unique intervals," Jakubowski said. "So it's simple but different."
The findings are much anticipated by neuroscientists and musicians alike.
"This is a timely and well-conducted study that adds to our knowledge of what kinds of music become earworms," said neuroscientist and musician Daniel Levitin, professor of psychology and behavioral neuroscience at McGill University in Canada, who was not involved in the research. "The reason that we get earworms in the first place is probably because music is an evolutionary adaptation, helping us to preserve factual and emotional information in an easily memorizable medium."

F*ck, I love this song!! I've loved it since the day it dropped and it's still a kick ass song to crank up. Currently playing on a loop as I work. This is an earworm that I don't mind having.

This popped up in my feed a few days ago and the song has been stuck in my head since then. The falsetto and mainly the chorus is what's stuck in my head. I actually like the song.

Julian Lennon - Stick Around

I love rediscovering old songs that I use to listen to endlessly back in the day because they are just so damn good. Stick Around has been playing in a loop in my head for the past couple of days. Love it. Great chorus. Good luck getting this outta your head once you click play. Always loved the video too with the cameos from Michael J. Fox, Joe Piscopo and Jami Gertz. Hottest chick in the video is the Bikini Girl (the one that takes her shorts off). YOWZZA!

We all know that the song is challenging, but after watching this video and how they break it all down, I will never be able to not look at this song in the same way when people try their hand at singing it. Happy 4th of July!

Roxette - It Must Have Been Love (Official Music Video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2C5TjS2sh4
Hearing the news of the passing of Marie Fredriksson this morning, this song has been playing over and over in my head without hearing a single snippet or soundbite. That's how good the song is. Love it. It wasn't till posting the video here that I finally listened to the song for the first time all day. Still a stunner of a vocal performance by Marie. RIP.
